Lee from Big Man Toys has posted the following blog entry. I know I'm envious of his situation and the fact that he was able to make the decision to get back into creating. Unfortunately, not everyone can do that - for one reason or another - but it's definitely inspiring stuff.
About a month ago, I had what would be considered a very enviable day-job. It's a spot that lots of people in town would have done anything to get selling a very cool product. I was earning more money than I ever thought I would, and I was miserable. I released one toy in that time (on Shapeways - I didn't even have time to produce it myself) and it was the only thing during that period that felt like any kind of accomplishment.
There was nothing wrong with the job I had, I think we're all just wired differently. I did fine and was happy to over-deliver for customers but it wasn't my product. Compliments directed to me were for something I had no part in creating. I have to make toys.
It's been 5 years since I found out just how happy making toys and the art of running a small business make me. Sculpting felt fun, casting felt great, people buying my stuff felt really good, and at the very least, breaking even financially while I continue to learn rather than paying to go on a course really kept me going.
Anyway, no grand mission statement. I know how lucky I am to live in a first world country and have this as an option. I've been making toys as an impulse and nessecity for 5 years now. The only thing is that it is now all I do. I'll be putting out the best stuff I can.
PLASEEBO has joined forces with PLANET-X to offer the best of both worlds, with hands on supervision of vinyl production in both China and Japan. PLANET-X will be producing and marketing an ongoing series of original PLASEEBO created figures, beginning with the “SUM” creature. The first release of the “SUM” creature in vinyl will take place on May 5th 2018 in Japan at the MANDARAKE "Indy Sofubi Rally”. (The backstory of Sum can be found below)
"THE LEGEND OF SUM"
Driving home from the local red neck bar one moon lit summer night, Roy swerves his pick up toward a dark shape that is slowly moving along side the road. A loud CRACK shatters the darkness as the front tire breaks the giant snapping turtles' shell in two, right down the center. The great snapper rolls down the embankment into the stream and Roy's laughing fades as the truck turns to cross the bridge to his shabby farm house across the stream.
The turtle, floating belly up is carried downstream to the other side and is swept into a quiet eddy where he sinks watching the moon fade from yellow to blood red through the darkening water. This small pool cut into the bank of the stream was at the back Roy's property and he used it as his personal dump site. The water caught in this hole became a terrible toxic soup of motor oil, fertilizer, broken toys, bones and entrails of many slaughtered animals, rusty tools and who knows what else.
Over the next few months, a strange transformation took place in this evil chowder as it baked in the summer heat. A creature of revenge, born of cruelty and neglect slid its way out of the sickening mess one dark September night.
Roy's body was never found, nor could anyone explain the slime trail from the bedroom through the field behind the house.
Over the years that followed, other neglectful farmers vanished on moonless nights and folks reported vague sightings of a creature that seamed to be cobbled together from a collection of garbage, an old doll, bone, rotted skin, and broken tools, with a large snapping turtle skull for a head. They call him "SUM".

Tomenosuke is bringing back the killer fish that was created by two of the greatest monster artists - Rob Bottin who worked on “The Thing” (1982) and Phil Tippett on the “Starship Troopers” (1997) - for the low-budget film “Piranha” (1978) when they were still unknown. The Piranha Prop Replica Model Resin Cast Kit is produced under the permission of Chako Vanleeuwen, a film producer of the New World Pictures "Piranha”, by Tomenosuke.

Taylored Curiosities has announced the new Cherry Blossom themed custom series. Three custom Kidrobot figures, each linked with a Cherry Blossom theme, yet varied with their own personality. A little companion is with each beast and contains a small piece of rose quartz in their tummy (which aids to balance our emotions). These teeny creatures are removable (with the use of extremely tiny magnets). Completed with removable bases, hand cut and varnished (and made from an old family apple tree). The fourth installment in this series is a Cherry Blossom themed, tree stump house. This is an original sculpt. Two little creatures inhabit this dwelling, along with their tiny baby in its acorn cot (the same healing crystals and attaching magnets are used in this piece).
