Background

While Hot Toys has made plenty of collectors salivate with their Batman: The Dark Knight Joker figures, it’s a slightly smaller line of Batman figures that we’ll be taking a look at today.

The Batman Cosbaby line is a blind-boxed set of mini figures based on the classic DC Comics title. The lineup includes characters such as: Batman, Catwoman, Two-Face, Batgirl, Joker and Robin.  If your not familiar with Cosbaby figures, they recreate characters in baby form.

Packaging

Each Cosbaby figure is blind-boxed, however some retailers might open them to identify the figure inside.  Photos of the actual figures are placed on the side panels of the box, while the front and back have comic drawings of Batman.  Inside, each figure is packaged in a clear bag.

The Figures

Each Batman Cosbaby stands approximately 3” in height and features approximately 9 points of articulation (neck, shoulders, wrists, hips, and feet).  The line consists of 7 designs plus 1 secret figure.  The regular figures consist of: Batman, Catwoman, Batman (Modern), Batman (Classic), Two-Face, Batgirl, Joker and Robin.  None of the figures in this line include accessories.

Our Opinion

Hot Toys’ Cosbaby line is one of the few mini figure lines that continue to bring it with fresh licenses and designs. They’ve picked up a number of great licenses such as Planet of the Apes, Alien vs. Predator, Pirates of the Caribbean and now Batman.  While most of the faces use the same simple big-eyed sculpt, they’ve changed up a number of the head sculpts with different hairstyles and – of course – Batman’s mask.

It would have been nice to see some of the pieces include accessories – maybe a Batarang for Batman, a gun for the Joker, a whip for Catwoman, etc.  But I am glad that they went with the comic book license as opposed to figures from the various Batman films.  The cartoonish look of the Cosbaby figure lends itself better to the comic look rather than trying to mimic film stars.

Looking at this lineup of characters, we’ll order our favorite figures as follows: Batman (Classic), Batman (Modern), Two-Face, Joker, Catwoman, Robin and Batgirl.
