FreeBento.com has sent us a few of Frank Kozik and Kidrobot’s latest collaboration – Mongers.

Background

If you see a figure with an X on its forehead and a cigarette in its mouth…it doesn’t take much to realize it’s from Frank Kozik.  He’s created Dunnys, Labbits and Bone Bunnies that have the “smorkin” look.  Kozik has teamed up with Kidrobot to bring Mongers to life.  Series 1 of these mini figures has 20 different designs…from smorkin’ bananas to smorkin’ sausage.

Packaging

The Mongers series is blind-boxed.  Each box includes a sheet with drawings of the figures as well as ratios.

The Figure

The Mongers line is made up of mini figures that are less than 3” in
height.  Since there are a number of random objects, the figures range
in size.  This series has 20 different designs on over 10 different
figures.  They have names like Pete, Bob, Herman and Elwood.

Our Opinion

I must admit that I wasn’t a big fan of many of Kozik’s previous
smokin’ and smorkin’ creations.  It just seemed to be the same recycled
idea: a cigarette in the mouth and an X on the forehead.  That being
said, I actually do like this line.  It’s campy in nature and seems
that Kozik is making fun of the very signature that is now associated
with his work.

The figures are of decent quality.  For around $5 apiece, I’m not
expecting superior quality.  There are no huge quality control issues I
have seen, which can be a problem on some of these larger run series.
