teddy scares 5

Background

Applehead Factory’s Teddy Scares are those forgotten about teddy bears you used to care for as a child. Well, they’ve come back from the grave to exact some revenge. The plush line was originally released as a series of 12” tall undead teddy bears. Several of these designs are a part of the Morgue Minis line…including Edwin Morose.

Edwin started his life as a love token. He served most his days on red satin sheets with the sweet smells of perfume and a daily hug from his beautiful owner. Then the day came when loyal Edwin was thrown into the trash. He cried himself asleep every night surrounded by the comfort of dried up roses, torn up memories and old love letters.

Our Opinion

If you’ve ever gotten your hands on a Teddy Scares plush, the first thing you’ll notice is that the faux fur plush material is super soft. However, the stuffing on the Morgue Minis is solid. They have embroidered eyes, eyebrows and pads on their feet (Edwin has a tear on his cheek). And in the case of this specific bear, he’s wearing a stretchy sweatshirt.

The removable hooded sweatshirt that Edwin Morose is sporting features tattered sleeves and waist. It has an actual string around the hood, so you can tighten it for the cold months. There’s a zipper printed on the front and a broken heart embroidered on either side of the zipper.

There were a few issues with plastic being left around the embroidered eyes. It’s something that could be peeled off, but it shouldn’t have been there. There were also several stray strings around the embroidered areas.

The Teddy Scares line probably appeals to collectors of gothic, zombie, horror or teddy bear related toys. I think the characters would make great vinyl figures, lending themselves to a larger audience. As far as the Morgue Minis, they're a good avenue for collectors who aren't sure that they want to purchase on of the larger (12" tall) Teddy Scares.
