Recently, Netflix has had a pretty good run of series collaborations with the folks over at Marvel. But it all started with the debut of Daredevil in 2015. Starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who becomes the vigilante Daredevil by nightfall, the television series has garnered attention from fans and critics (something no one ever said of the 2003 film).
With the cult-like success of the show, Hot Toys hopped in with their Marvel license and released a 1/6th scale version of Daredevil based on his Season 2 appearance. Thanks to Sideshow Collectibles, we are getting a chance to review that collectible here.
The first choice you will need to make is what face you want Daredevil sporting. The Daredevil figure features a pair of interchangeable lower face portions. There’s the pouty face or the angry/bloody face. Both of these magnetically lock up with the top portion of the Daredevil mask, and they actually do look like actor Charlie Cox.
Secondly, you’ll have to choose from three different Billy Club designs. There’s the connected clubs, which basically looks like a long stick. Then, you have the separated clubs. You can have Daredevil hold these or place them in his holsters, which are setup to hold this version. Finally, there’s the Billy Club nunchaku. In this version, the separated clubs are connected by a wire.
Okay…and then you have hands. There’s a pair of fists, a pair of open hands, and a pair of hands for holding the Billy Clubs. I guess your previous choices might influence the types of hands you’ll be outfitting Mr. Murdock with.
The display is one of the more intricate that I’ve seen from Hot Toys. The stand is made up of three pieces – the street level display stand, a black riser, and then the sidewalk scene (which goes on top of the riser). In addition to the stand, the figure includes a Daredevil themed cardboard backdrop.
The quality of the figure is up to Hot Toys’ high standards. The pleather outfit syncs up, color-wise, to the Daredevil helmet. Not an easy feat given the unique shade of red. And I have no issues at all with the suit. The various patterns and layers make it look amazing. And, while this might be the least amount of paintwork I’ve seen on a Hot Toys’ figure, what we see around the face helps make this look like a 1/6th scale version of Charlie Cox.
As far as pricing, this is the new normal. Priced at $229.99, we’re looking at what’s the average price of a 1/6th scale figure from Hot Toys. Comparatively, there’s not a ton of accessories. There aren’t multiple outfits or head sculpts (there’s a lower portion of a face), so I would have expected a little closer to $200 in price.
I’m guessing the outfit pushed the pricing up somewhat. It’s a very well-done outfit - likely one of the best I’ve seen from Hot Toys. But, for this price, I would have liked an unmasked sculpt of Matt Murdock to swap out.
There seem to be a number of collectibles hitting the market based on the Netflix Daredevil series (I have another review coming up next week). But Hot Toys has really grabbed that high-quality segment…those folks who are looking for their very own Daredevil to Netflix and chill with (get your minds out of the gutters).

If you've never seen the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special television film, and you consider yourself a Star Wars fan, you need to go grab a bootleg copy of it. Where else will you see Bea Arthur as a singing bartender working in the Mos Eisley Cantina? But one of the most overlooked aspects of the special (no, not meeting Chewbacca's family) is that Boba Fett made his debut in an animated short that was featured during the variety show.
And while this version of Boba Fett is often talked about, it's not until now that Hot Toys has announced the 1/6th scale Boba Fett (Animation Version) collectible figure. Featuring Boba Fett’s classic look from the Star Wars Holiday Special animation, the highly accurate 1/6th scale Boba Fett (Animation Version) figure is specially equipped with blue and yellow colored Mandolorian armor, a twin-pronged electropole, a blaster pistol and his iconic jetpack on his back.
Sideshow Collectibles is currently taking pre-orders for the Boba Fett figure. It's priced at $235.00 and expected to begin shipping in Q2 of 2018...or I guess in time for your 2018 Star Wars Holiday Special viewing.

Sideshow Collectibles posted the above photo showing actor, Joker, and photobomber-extraordinairre Mark Hamill (and what appears to be his dog Millie, sitting patiently by - I envy folks whose dogs behave) wielding his 1/6th scale Star Wars: The Last Jedi likeness produced by Hot Toys. I'm sure it's pretty wacky seeing yourself produced as a collectible figure, but I'm guessing Mr. Hamill is well used to it - it's been happening for the past 40 years.
Although, as you can see below, they seem to be doing a much better job lately (Everyone probably wants to forget about the "juiced" Lukes from The Power of the Force Series. Ironically, performance enhancing drugs must have been a part of life during the mid-90's - from major league baseball to Star Wars collectibles.)
Ever since Hot Toys’ large-size Cosbaby figures made their first appearance, collectors have been clamoring for more. In response, they've announced the extension of the Cosbaby (L) Bobble-Head series to the Star Wars: The Force Awakens license. Featuring Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, and the First Order Stormtrooper Officer in large size Cosbaby form, each nearly 10-inch tall figure features a bobbling-head. Look for these to hit stores at the end of Q3, beginning of Q4 of 2017.
Hot Toys has announced a yet another (a third) series of Cosbaby Bobble-head figures based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Series 3 features fans’ favorite characters from the blockbuster. Measuring between 3.15 inches and 4.75 inches tall, the series has teamed up Luke Skywalker and Rey, Han Solo and Chewbacca, and Rey and BB-8 in three Cosbaby sets. (The Chewbacca Cosbaby is specially crafted with soft velvet hair). Each non-articulated figure features a bobble-head and will be released between Q3 and Q4 of 2017.
With Force Friday II celebrating the toy release/announcement from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Hot Toys announced a number of brand new Cosbaby (S) Bobble-Head Figures based on the upcoming film. The new series will feature various iconic Star Wars characters - namely Luke Skywalker, Rey, Kylo Ren, and Captain Phasma - as well as three new characters from The Last Jedi - the Praetorian Guard, Executioner Trooper, and the new First Order droid BB-9E. Each of these Cosbabies will be equipped with a Bobble-Head feature and stand approximately 3 to 5 inches tall.
