REVIEW: mimobots USB Flash Drives

The expanding realm of designer toys has introduced us to several useful “toys”.  Mimoco’s line of mimobots is one of these very impressive lines.  By combining a designer toy with a USB flash drive, mimoco has given us a justifiable reason to spend money on a toy.

Available in 256MB, 512MB and 1GB, these 3-inch tall figures can easily be plugged into your computer’s USB drive.  Mimobots are compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems.  Just plug them in and you’re ready to go (unless you have Windows 98 like myself – then you’ll need to download a driver).

Clive Barker’s Jump Tribe

Those who attended the San Diego Comic Con were able to see (and purchase) the first in the line of plush toys from Clive Barker's short story - Jump Tribe.  Look for our review of the first plush - Yaboo - this coming weekend.

Look for Art Asylum to release 4 new plush figures.

Yaboo (with wings) - pictured above

Kungu Nah

Yaboo is packaged with the Jump Tribe book that was released with the SDCC exclusive plush.  The fabric and pattern on the winged Yaboo is new.  It is also a different design as this is Yaboo after he jumped through the "Zelequar".

The 3 other character will each come with their own story book.

Smorkin’ Labbits Series 2

Kidrobot today announced that it’s time to talk about downsizing, even miniaturizing. It’s time to talk about Mini Smorkin’ Labbits Series 2.

If these Labbits were candy bars, they’d be called “fun size”. If they were bottles of shampoo, they’d be “travel size”. But, since they’re Mini Labbits, they are, in a word, the perfect freaking size!

The legendary Frank Kozik is a web designer, animator, and silkscreener, as well as being a toy designer. His oil paintings are regularly displayed in galleries across the globe.

These Mini Labbits will be available in a total of 13 blind box designs, of which two are rare “chase” figures. $4.95 at all Kidrobot stores, on the web at, and at other select retailers will get one of these hugely cute toys into your possession.

Site News Update

I'd like to thank Sket One for this week's header banner.  Last week saw the work of Shan Michael Evans on our Plastic and Plush banner.  If you're interested in designing a banner for our site, check out this past press release.

Contest Winner has won the Puppet Terrors prize package.  This includes the 2 Puppet Terror puppets (Bunky the Clown and Death Row Joe) and the first 2 signed comic books.  He has one week to send in his shipping address...if not...we will draw another winner.  Be on the look out for a new contest this coming week!

The Man in Black

Sota Toys is set to bring the "Man in Black", Johnny Cash, to figure form.  Take a look at the facial details...impeccable!  The strings on the guitar actually work, although you can't play a tune on it.  I've been waiting for someone to put out a Cash figure, and it looks like Sota has nailed this one.

Observers Set to Land

STRANGEco has announced that the latest offering from Mars-1, the Observer, is set to hit retailers soon.  Now, if you didn't get to pick up the SDCC exclusive black Observer at Comic'll have the choice of 3 different colors (Red, Grey and Green).

The Grey version will be limited to 450 pieces. The Red and Green will each have 750 available.  The figures will be 6 inches in height and packaged in a box deisgned by Mario (aka Mars-1).

I rarely get this excited about a toy release, but I've been kicking myself for not picking up the San Diego exclusive...and now I'm looking forward to snagging one of these.
