REVIEW: Planet of the Apes Cosbaby Series

Hot Toys’ Planet of the Apes Cosbaby line features characters from the classic film in baby form. “Cos” is short for costume, similar to cosplay, so the figures are babies in costumes. These figures are based on the original Planet of the Apes from 1968, and not from Tim Burton’s debacle of a remake released in 2001.

The film revolves around Taylor (Charlton Heston), an astronaut whose spacecraft travels over 2,000 years to an unknown planet. On that planet, there is a society of apes divided into various classes (gorillas – military; Orangutans – politicians; Chimpanzees – scientists). After being captured by the apes, Taylor attempts an escape, with the film culminating in one of the most classic endings ever.

Mini Me Exhibition at Urbanix

Keshet Levi - angie

Urbanix Gallery, in collaboration with the Industrial Design Department at the Holon Institute of Technology, will be presenting the Mini Me exhibition, which includes designer toys that have been manufactured using OBJET's 3D printing technology. The event will take place November 1st at 8PM at the Urbanix Gallery in Tel Aviv, and run through November 12th.

As part of the project, third-year students in the Industrial Design Department were asked to address their persona and self-perception. Each student was to design a character that embodies him/her, following a process of both self-examination and exposure to the group. Any concept or idea was acceptable, as long as it had a personal, direct connection to the designer's own identity. The exhibition will include 22 toys, which represent the 22 participating designers.

Pierce and Nathan – Red Edition

Carnival Cartoons has released Pierce The Human Pincushion & Nathan The Dog-Faced Boy "Red" Edition. This colorway is a limited edition of 250 pieces.

Pierce and Dogboy are the Carney family mischief makers! Pierce is the quintessential bratty younger brother, and Dogboy is Pierce's pal, a loving pet, and... a fur covered wingman! Pierce relishes his gross-out gig as "The Human Pincushion" in the family sideshow act. (He's got more holes than a boardwalk putt-putt course). When Dogboy isn't doing double duty as the family's household hound, and Pierce's partner in crime, he wows the crowds at Barker's sideshow with his furry face and outrageous animal antics!

Pierce stands approximately 5.5" tall, while Nathan stands in at 4". Unlike the previous Pierce/Nathan colorways (like our still available exclusive...ahem) this set does NOT come with a mini print. Look for these to hit your favorite retailer with a price around $45 for the set. And for wholesale inquiries, contact DKE Toys.
