Later today (January 28th 2011 at 12PM Noon EST) Erick Scarecrow will be releasing his Suketchi Mama Blue figure set. The set includes a 6" Suketchi Mama, 3" Paint Shroom, and 4" Paddopa sketch pad. The Paddopa will have a pencil sketch by Erick Scarecrow. (Touching the sketch area on the Paddopa will cause smudges)
The Blue colorway is limited to only 30 pieces, although less than 30 will be available through the ESC Ebay shop. You'll be able to pick up the set for $175.00.
Suketchi Mama's background story:
Suketchi Mama travels the world sharing her skills as an artist. She is full of many ideas and with her pencil hands, she expresses herself artistically. Her traveling companions are Paddopa, a special pad that can translate her sketches into real objects and Paint Shroom. A Shiitake mushroom that loves to add colors to anything he finds dull.
In case you didn't know...Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. The day of infamy takes place on Monday February 14th this year. Will you go the flowers, candy, jewelry or stuffed animal route? If you go plush, Rocket USA has got you covered with a pair of brand new Lubies.
There are a pair of Valentine's Lubies that you can present to your loved (or lubbed) one. The Valentine's Octopus and Valentine's Gorilla are just trying to help “Spread the Lub”.
Manufacturer: Rocket USA
Dimensions: 5" round
Designs: Valentine's Octopus, Valentine's Gorilla
The Valentine's Lubies feature a slightly different tag. It's still circular, similar to the rest of the line. But, on the inside, there is space for you to write who the Lubies are To and From.
I'm not sure if your Valentine's Day “go to” gift for that special someone is a box of chocolates, a dozen roses or a stuffed animal. Hey...maybe it's all of the above.
The Valentine's Octopus features the embroidered phrase "Armed For Hugs" located across its head. It's predominantly bright red with white underneath its tentacles and maroon around its eyes. The octopus is a pretty cool new animal design and features the correct number (eight) of tentacles.
The Valentine's Gorilla sports "Me Lub U" across his white chest. It's, also, mostly red with some gray and white features. I'm pretty sure that this is the first time we've seen the Gorilla Lubie plush character. (There was a Monkey released earlier in the line)
Of the two designs, I am leaning towards the Valentine's Octopus as my favorite. It doesn't really have anything to do with the embroidered message on the plush, it's just that I prefer the Octopus Lubie over the Gorilla Lubie.
OVERALL: Time is running out for you to get that special someone something special. Plush stuffed animals have been a staple of Valentine's Day shopping, and I doubt that you'll find anything cuter than the Lubies you see here (at least nothing Valentine's Day themed).
You can pick one up at the following:
Rocket USA: $9.95 ea.
Valentine's Lubies Grades
Plush Quality: 9/10
Fun Factor: 9/10
Hmm...we got this from the land of the Gumpy. Not really sure what Salsa El Gumpy means, but hopefully the info below may shed some light on it.
The gumpy heard about a popular and repsected artist releasing a tabasco themed custom and he wanted to spice things up. He headed south of the boarder and met an artist named Skeet Juan and asked if he could help him . What did Skeet Juan do to the Gumpy ? Find out friday .
This amazing custom Voltron could only be from the folks at Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica. Unfortunately for you...this custom Qee was a commission for a lucky collector. You might remember seeing a Voltron custom Qee before from them, but this version is slightly different. They based this custom on the classic Voltron toy where the white parts of the body, legs and arms are actually silver.
Lana Crooks just moved her studio...and to celebrate, she's offering up to 50% off original art pieces, one-of-a-kinds, and customs available via her Etsy shop. She needs to make some room to create all new works for two large shows that will be happening this year. And that means you win.
The sale ends on February 14th 2011. And anyone in the Chicago area who wishes to pick up their pieces can message Lana to remove the shipping charges.
Blamo Toys has got you covered during these cold winter months. Spencer Hansen has created his own super stylish answer to the "snuggie" - Rabbit Onesies.
That's right, now you too can dress up and parade around like your favorite Blamoville characters in these super warm, super comfortable rabbit jumpsuits. Each onesie comes with metal wire lined rabbit ears that allow the wearer styling and molding possibilities. And what bunny suit would be complete without its own fluffy bunny tail on the butt?
Available in four different styles (Moto Rabbit Suit, Pink Rabbit Onesie, Grey Rabbit Onesie, and Black Rabbit Onesie), these sell between $220.00 (onesies) and $260.00 (Moto Suit).
While there's often crossover between "customizers" and "artists", customizers are the masters at taking a platform - any platform - and putting their artistic stamp on it. In a genre of art/collecting/toys that is constantly changing, it seems like many more artists are doing more customs. Here's our top 5 customizers from the past year.
No one really sculpts trees like J*RYU. 2010 was a big year for him as he produced a ton of quality customs. And is it me, or was he at every custom show this past year? In person and showing off a custom
While I like his Tube Dunny line of customs, 2010 was all about VISEone's Comic Stripped series. Cutting up old school comics and adding it to painted and sculpted elements. It's something I had never seen before.
3. Bob Conge (Plaseebo)
The man from Plaseebo was at it again this year. He consistently produces some of the sickest customs I have ever seen. He really blurs the line between customizer, fine artist, electrician and small run toy producer.
2. Jon Paul Kaiser
No one has ever done so much with black and white (except maybe Ben Franklin and his printing press). In a scene dominated by colors, Jon Paul Kaiser opts for the lack of color. It makes any custom piece he creates instantly recognizable.
**WINNER** 1. Matt Walker (Dead Presidents Designs)
If you create your own paint line for artists...you must be doing something right. Matt Walker could apply his painting and pinstriping techniques to a rock and have it blow your mind. Truthfully, I have no idea how he gets some of the effects he does on his customs...but that's fine with me.
The second of Shawnimals' Ninja of the Month handmade plushies for 2011 has almost arrived. Aviator Ninja will be available beginning on Wednesday February 2nd 2011 at 1PM CST. This character is limited to a run of only 100 pieces and will run $30.00. (Plus...you get a sticker, button and it's signed
From the tag:
"Flying high above the clouds over Ninjatown, Aviator Ninja is a serious hot-shot fly-boy. Loop de loops, barrel rolls, mach 1 – anything to wow the ground dwellers below. One important note however: None of this would be possible without the macho Moustachio!"
