Mikie Graham’s Futakuchi-onna Custom

Mikie Graham has unveiled his submission into Wootbear Gallery's Lollygag Custom Show. That show opened last weekend in San you might have already see it if you went there. Drawing inspiration from the fantastical world of Yokai aka Japanese folklore monsters, Mikie transformed his Lollygag figure into the legendary "Futakuchi-onna".

A futakuchi-onna (二口女, lit. "two-mouthed woman") is a type of yokai or Japanese monster. They are characterized by their two mouths – a normal one located on her face and second one on the back of the head beneath the hair. There, the woman's skull splits apart, forming lips, teeth and a tongue, creating an entirely functional second mouth.

This one of a kind custom is currently available to purchase from the Wootbear Gallery link above for $350.00.

Argonaut Resins’ Piragua Reveal

Eric Nocella Diaz, of Argonaut Resins, has fully revealed his latest project - Piragua. The little shaved ice in a paper cone resin figure features a translucent ice head and a  a solid, footed base. Eric explains the project below:

Growing up in Spanish Harlem (El Barrio - uptown on the East side of Manhattan) on those hot summers one of my favorite things was getting a Puerto Rican shaved ice treat called a Piragua. They were like Spanish icies that were sold off a makeshift Mom and Pop cart with a huge block of ice and all sorts of awesome syrupy sweet flavors like cherry, grape, lime, strawberry, orange, etc.

The resin Piragua figurine is 5-inches in height and will come in a variety colors with the occasional chase figure thrown in. They will make their debut at New York Comic Con 2015 this October at Booth #402. Information on edition sizes and pricing is yet to be announced. Photos by Deborah Montanez.

TAG – Famous Last Words

The name of Toy Art Gallery's upcoming show - Famous Last Words - is somewhat fitting as it's their swan song show. The group show features works from Izumonster, Joseph Harmon, Kikkake Toy, Martin Ontiveros, Miscreation Toys, Restore, Pico Pico, T9G, and Uamou. The sad news is that this event will be the last at TAG's current location. They will continue their online shop as well as toy production...but this'll be the final time you can get out to the physical place.

The show opening takes place on Saturday, September 5th 2015 from 7PM to 10PM at Toy Art Gallery’s showroom located at 7571 Melrose Ave. Hollywood CA 90046. Famous Last Words runs through September 27th 2015.

Mystery Minis: Anime Collection Series 1

Funko's newest addition to their Mystery Minis line is the Mystery Minis: Anime Collection Series 1. This series features 12 characters that I have no idea at all who they are or what they're from!

The first series contains characters from anime classics like Soul Eater and Sao as well as newer series like Attack on Titan and Black Butler! There are also fan favorites like Sebastian from Black Butler, Fairy Tail’s Happy, and Eren, the Titan hunter!

I don't know what any of that means! But they sort of look cool and the blind box series will be available beginning in November 2015.

Vinyl Idolz: Young Frankenstein

Vinyl Sugar has announced they'll be releasing a trio of Vinyl Idolz based on the 1974 comedy film - Young Frankenstein. There's The Monster, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, and Igor. Evil Corp has put their stamp on one of Mel Brooks' classics.  Look for them to hit stores shelves in September 2015.
