Review Mimobot Adventure Time Finn 01

Background

If you've ever watched Cartoon Network, you've probably caught glimpse of the Pendleton Ward created animated series Adventure Time. Featuring Finn (the human) and Jake (the dog),the sometimes awkward and mostly random show recently completed its fourth season.

Mimoco has teamed up with Cartoon Network to release a series of Adventure Time MIMOBOTs. Consisting of Finn, Jake, and Princess Bubblegum, the series of 8GB to 64GB USB flash drives comes pre-loaded with lots of content. There are avatars, icons, wallpapers, MimoByte sounds when inserting and ejecting the drive, and a full suite of Mimory extras (including a full episode of Adventure Time).

For this review, we were provided with the Finn Adventure Time MIMOBOT.

Our Opinion

Adventure Time is one of the few current cartoons that children and adults can enjoy (although I probably wouldn't recommend for young kids). Kids will like the silliness and bright colors, while there enough of those adult innuendos that parents will like. But it is one of those random, stream of consciousness shows that might not appeal to everyone.

Luckily, if you like the character designs, and pick up an Adventure Time MIMOBOT, they include one episode in Mimoco's Mimory suite. You'll get icons, wallpapers and avatars all pre-loaded on the drive. There's also MimoByte, which plays a number of lines from Adventure Time when the USB Flash drive is inserted or ejected.

The Finn character fits well to this particular MIMOBOT design. Finn is a human who wears a hat the has two ears – just like the traditional MIMOBOT. He features his green backpack as well as his sword on the back (of course, they're painted on). And the paintwork looks pretty good, even though the macro lens picked up some spots that are difficult to see with the naked eye.

It's pretty obvious that the Finn (and other Adventure Time) MIMOBOT would appeal to fans of Adventure Time. After releasing series from some larger pop culture licenses (Stars Wars, DC Comics, Transformers and G.I. Joe), it's nice to see Mimoco going after a “cult” cartoon such as Adventure Time.
