I'm assuming that Terminator 2: Judgment Day would make the top 10 action/sci-fi flicks of many a Plastic and Plush reader. It's universally considered the best of The Terminator film franchise, and features Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator - T-800) reprising their roles from the first film. But the real star in T2 is that new bad guy, the T-1000. Manning the role of the shape-shifting T-1000, and playing a main role in his first feature film, was actor Robert Patrick.
Hot Toys has the license to produce 1/6th scale figures based on the various Terminator films. We previously reviewed their Sarah Connor figure, but they've released close to a dozen figures from the license. For today's review, I'm going to take a look at their T-1000 figure.

The T-1000 figure is packaged in a T2 themed box similar to the Sarah Connor figure we previously reviewed. The box has a metallic look to it, with photos of the figure that blend in with the metallic theme. Inside, there is a large plastic tray with a slide-over clear protector that keeps the many accessories in their assigned spots.
Robert Patrick, who plays the T-1000 in Terminator 2, has a pretty recognizable face (thanks to this film). So it's a pretty good sculpting job when you're looking at a picture and can't tell if it's a human or an action figure. That's just how amazing the Hot Toys sculpt on this figure is. And it's not just the sculpting, but the paint application is stellar. We've seen plenty of sculpts ruined by paint, but – somehow – Hot Toys is able to release sizable run production pieces with such amazing attention to detail.
Now, that's not saying the figure is without faults. Okay...I only found one fault – the hands. I'm actually not sure if it's the hands or the way the shirt tapers at the wrists, but it looks like the T-1000 has freakishly large hands. It's probably something most people won't even notice, so just go ahead and unread this paragraph. One other thing...swapping out heads is easier said than done.
You want to talk about accessories? The T-1000 figure comes with enough accessories – even an extra outfit – that you'd only need a generic body to create a second T-1000 figure. Think about it. You could present the figure as packaged, and take the other body with the highway patrol jacket, pants, boots, split head and two of the nine extra available hands. Now you have two T-1000's.
It's overwhelming the number of accessories the T-1000 comes with. But this is what Hot Toys does best (well next to the sculpting and painting). They don't just give you an amazing 1/6th scale figure...they give you his sunglasses and motorcycle helmet that he wore in a few scenes of the film.
One of the interesting features of this figure is that the T-1000 has a few metallic plates on his body. You'll have to take my word since I didn't snap any photos, but those metallic sections allow you to place the magnetic bullet wounds over the T-1000's clothing. It's a great little extra to a figure that pretty much has it all.
OVERALL: The T-1000 figure is a prime example of the amazing work that Hot Toys can put forward via their 1/6th scale Movie Masterpiece Series line. Sculpt, paint, accessories, outfit...they're all ahead of the pack. If you're a fan of Terminator 2, this figure is a must-have.
