Kyrre Havik Eriksen, an amateur artist from Norway, recently finished customizing a mini Munny covered with pearls. Hence...the Pearl Munny. Now, those aren't real pearls...like the ones you get out of oysters. I actually have no idea what they are...but it makes for an interesting custom.

Those are Perler beads. They’re a craft item.
They’re Perler beads, generally used in flat designs and melted on one side so they stay together. Of course I also remember stringing them on plastic cord years ago. http://www.spritestitch.com/ has a bunch of Perler designs featured, including their most recent post of Megaman 2 Boss Selection Screen.
