Background
Rocket USA’s licensed Major League Baseball Lubies line has just been super-sized (or given a shot of PGH – that’s Plush Growth Hormone). They’ve released a pair of 10” round New York Yankees Lubies (the regular Lubies are about 5”) in solid blue and pinstripe versions.

The larger Yankees Lubies has a tag similar to the smaller line – just slightly larger. The tag features an illustrated Yankees Stadium on the front, with the Yankees logo and a “Did You Know?” fact on the inside.
Our Opinion
There’s some good and some bad with this larger size of MLB Lubies. The good is that this is the perfect size to cuddle. It’s still just as soft of the smaller version, but you can use the 10” Lubie as a pillow. Little kids will also probably enjoy this larger version – although, collectors may still prefer the smaller line for display purposes. If the regular Lubies are like a softball, these are about the size of a basketball.
The bad? Well, the only 10” MLB Lubies are these two – the New York Yankees. And while the Yankees are probably the most popular team in baseball, they’re also probably the most hated. (My team lost to them in the World Series last year, so I’m still a little bitter) And that’s the only negative. I’m assuming that demand and popularity of the smaller Lubies might impact whether or not MLB teams seek out this larger size.
Being a baseball fan, I think it would be great to collect all 30 teams. And while that’s doable with the smaller line, you might have to add an addition or have a free room if you want to show off 30 of the 10” Lubies.
If you’re a Yankees fan, I would definitely recommend picking one of these up (I’m slightly partial to the pinstripe version). They’re extremely soft, fun to play with and the kids (and adults) will love them.
