ALBOTAS.com has posted their second episode of blind.boxed.tv. This is the first episode that I've seen and here are a few comments and observations I have.
- First off, you pretty much have to compare any designer toy show to Toy Break. This is more of a "hipster" show than Toy Break. While Toy Break wallows in the nerdiness of collecting (which I love), Blind Boxed goes for the hipster crowd (Hence, the host checking out the new Kidrobot toys on his iPhone.)
- It seems a little more scripted.
- The background video game themed music distracts from the audio.
- They need to lighten up on the F-bomb. I felt like I was watching an early Kevin Smith movie. Gratuitous and unnecessary F-bomb dropping.
Toy Break is going to be very tough to top. We are talking about devoted people who work in the biz. George's beard of wisdom will be very hard to compete with. =)
This show however does provide another viewpoint of a younger market and how they think about the toy market. So that in itself is helpful to me in some respects.
With all things starting out, these kids could have the potential of creating something great. I agree with the last point. If you want to be taken seriously you need to drop the unneeded swearing. There is a time and a place for everything. But I'm over 30, so I guess I can't be trusted. 😉
