Background
About a year ago, Erick Scarecrow’s Mousey Micci line won our 2007 Plush Toy of the Year. ESC-Toy is back with a new set of slightly smaller plush aliens in brand new mousey suits. The character has gone from three different colors in the 12” tall line to five in the new 8” collection.
Mousey Micci is the only surviving alien from his or her armada that made it through an asteroid belt on their way to conquer Earth. What happens when Mousey Micci lands in New York City will be revealed in the future.
Packaging
Since it’s a plush line, there’s not much packaging. It might come in a bag with a little ESC-Toy sticker on the outside…or maybe not. But each plush does have a tag in the same color as the plush character. And included on that tag is a random fact about the Mousey Micci character.
The Figures
Erick Scarecrow’s Mousey Micci 8” plush line not so surprisingly measures 8” in height. In this new size, there are five different colorways: Purple Lurple, Snow Attack, Pink Rage, Green Master and Mocha. Three of these colors are new, while two (pink and green) were seen in the larger version of the plush.
All of the colorways use longer plush fiber material except for the Snow Attack Mousey Micci. The Snow Attack has more of a sweatshirt type feel with shorter fibers.
Our Opinion
Why shouldn’t ESC-Toy release a smaller line of Mousey Micci plush? The 12” line was incredibly popular with both collectors and kids, and most plushies nowadays come in three sizes – large, regular and clip-on.
I like the fact that they’ve added a few new colors to the lineup, even if they eliminated one of my favorites – the blue Mousey Micci. I actually would have preferred to see five completely new colors, since the trio of new shades are my favorites of the 8” assortment. But I understand why they’ve brought back two of the familiar plushies.
The quality one the line is similar to the larger assortment. There are a few stray strings, but no holes or fraying on any of the edges. It’s a well-produced line, so if you like the 12” version…you definitely enjoy the slightly smaller 8” Mousey Micci collection.
