Background

After mimoco released their first series of Star Wars mimobots, collectors chimed in with the characters wanted as USB storage devices.  Yes, if you’re not familiar with mimobots, they are designer toy USB devices available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB sizes.

Series 2 of the Star Wars line was launched with four new characters: Princess Leia, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker (X-Wing), and Boba Fett.  For purposes of this review, we’ll be looking at the Boba Fett mimobot.

Packaging

Much like Series 1, the Series 2 Star Wars mimobots are packaged in a clear, cylindrical plastic case.  This allows you to easily display them with your other Star Wars collectibles.  Each figure includes a small booklet that outlines the series.  And the edition size (and the number of the figure you received) is printed on the top lid.

The Figure

The Boba Fett mimobot stands approximately 2 3/8” in height.  The
bounty hunter contains mimoco’s new helmet cap.  This cap is painted
like Boba Fett’s Mandalorian battle helmet.  You can remove it to see
his true identity.

This figure is limited to a run of 3,500 pieces.  It comes pre-loaded
with exclusive Star Wars content, ranging from wallpapers and screen
savers to icons and avatars.  And every time you insert or inject the
mimobot, you’ll hear actual sounds from the Star Wars saga.

Our Opinion

Since Boba Fett is one of the cult favorite characters from the
original Star Wars trilogy, it was only a matter of time before mimoco
turned the bounty hunter into a mimobot.  Their new helmet cap style
fits this character perfectly.  It probably would not have worked as
well with the original cap (with the two little bear-like ears).

And it appears that mimoco changed up their production a little.  The
actual figure is has a matte finish to it.  I actually like this look
more than the gloss finish of some of the earlier mimobots.

The fact that these figures are functional (you can save photos, files,
etc on it) will probably allow you to justify the purchase to your
significant other, parents, etc.  “But honey!  I need it for work!”

You can pick one up at the following:

mimoco: $49.95 - $109.95
Tenacious Toys: $49.95 - $109.95

Boba Fett mimobot Grades:

Quality: 9/10

Packaging: 7/10
Durability: 8/10
Hype: 9/10
Fun Factor: 8/10
Value: 8/10
Overall: 9.0/10
