Background

The company known for creating the only Designer USB Flash Drives on the market – mimoco – has entered the vinyl game with their vimobot line.  Their first vinyl series is similar to the Core Series 1 line of mimobots, designed by Yahid Rodriguez.  The blind box line has 8 different designs, which differ in packaging ratios.

Mimoco also has released a blank figure for their vimobot design contest.  While Round 1 of the contest ended on June 30th, you can still purchase, design and submit your designs to the company for Round 2 (ending October 15th).

Packaging

The vimobot Core Series 1 line is blind boxed and hidden in a cylindrical package.  The blank box has a window front, but it’s just a blank…so there’s nothing much to see unless you customize it.

The Figures

Each vimobot is approximately 4” tall in height.  They are made of
rotocast vinyl and have no points of articulation.  The Core Series 1
is made up of 8 different designs, and while you have a 1:6.9 chance in
receiving most of the blind-boxed figures…the two protobot figures are
limited to 1:12 and 1:24.

Our Opinion

The vimobot we pulled is the ta2b character.  (It sounds like a Star
Wars character to me)  We also got a chance to look at the blank
vimobot.  Mimoco has chosen the first 3 designs, via an online poll,
from their custom vimobot contest and designs for Round 2 must be
submitted by October 15th.  The new designs are great and it will be
something new for collectors who don’t want vinyl toy designs that were
already released as mimobots.

You can pick one up at the following:
