Background

The ATP Festival: Nightmare Before Christmas 2006 ran from December 8th through the 10th in the UK.  The All Tomorrow’s Parties festival was put together by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth and featured a number of rock, punk and alternative music acts.

ATP hooked up with Wheaty Wheat and MAD, who designed one of his infamous MAD*L vinyl figures in true rockin’ style.

Packaging

The ATP MAD*L is bagged in an opaque, white plastic bag.  It has the “I Got This Dope Fig @ ATP ‘06” slogan written on the front.

The Figure

The ATP MAD*L is made of blue glow-in-the-dark vinyl.  It might be the
brightest glowing vinyl out there.  The front of the figure’s t-shirt
says, “I Got This Dope Fig @ ATP ‘06”, while the back has the ATP logo.

You’ll only be able to get this MAD*L through the ATP website.  They
are initially only offering 300 of the 400 figure run at a price of £40
(almost $80) plus shipping charges.  There’s a limit of 1 figure per
customer
.

Our Opinion

Do photos do the glowing power of the ATP MAD*L any justice?  Probably
not - especially not mine.  It’ll light up your bedroom or office with a bright blue glow.
It’s a must-have for GID collectors.  But this MAD*L is cooler than
your average glow-in-the-dark vinyl figure.  Even without the glowing
element, the design of this MAD*L ranks up there MAD’s best work.  Just
check out the mesmerizing eyes if you don’t believe me…

You can only get this figure at:

ATP Festival Website: £40
(
almost $80)

ATP MAD*L:

Quality: 9/10
Paint: 9/10
Durability: 10/10
Hype: 9/10
Fun Factor: 9/10
Value: 6/10
Overall: 9.2/10
