Background
One of the newest, and coolest, product lines from UNKL Brand is the known as JunPo. The initial wave contains 3 rotocast vinyl figures that stand around 6” in height.
The JunPo came out of the shadows just after the turn of the millennium confirming the presence and vowing to continue to protect the human race from the very thing that threatens its existence – greed. These self proclaimed public servants have always been made up of working class laborers with little stake in the world around them. Throughout time they have hidden within unremarkable lives while secretly performing remarkable services that our privileged leaders refused to do or acknowledge. As a result, the JunPo utilize highly specialized skills and an impressive knowledge base bout the world’s strategic locations and government organizations.
Currently, only 3 members have come forward as spokesmen for the organization: AXL (blue), TRAN (green) and RAJ (orange). Axl specializes in deep sea search, rescue and recovery. Tran concentrates his focus on urban chemical warfare. And Raj is the mole of the group, searching and exploring underground.
Packaging
The figures are all packaged in the same window-front box. There are
drawings of, as well as a brief bio about, each of the 3 characters.
You couldn’t really ask for more.
The Figures
Each JunPo figure is made of rotocast vinyl and stands approximately 6”
tall. Even though the 3 figures look relatively similar, there are
some differences (most noticeably, their hands). They also have
various sayings on the back of the figures’ bodies.
The JunPo figures sit steadily on 4 feet…making them near impossible to
tip over. Each has 6 points of articulation that are all in the
figure’s arms. The most interesting aspect about the JunPo figures is
their helmet. The helmet is made of very soft vinyl and you can
actually feel the figure’s head inside (although you can’t remove it).
Our Opinion
There’s really nothing not to like about this UNKL Brand line. You
might find a little glue reside around the helmet, which is the only
negative. Choosing your favorite out of the 3 characters might be the
most difficult task. Personally, I gravitate towards AXL…the blue
JunPo.
In the ever-expanding designer toy world, this line is reasonably
priced at around $35 each. UNKL has released some very impressive
lines in the past several years, but this is possibly my favorite. Squishing the JunPo's head is almost therapeutic.
