Background
For ages, Sasquatch and Yeti have been living as myths and in the shadows of the human world. With the introduction of the internet and email, Sasquatch and Yeti were able to meet and fall in love over the web. Learning of each other and then of the I.nsurgents W.ilderness G.ruppo, they knew they had to join forces to fight against the bad humans who have been polluting their wilderness homes and killing their furry friends.
These figures are the latest addition to Rocket World’s IWG line. They are the first mythical creatures, as all of the others are modeled after actual animals. These are modeled after Bigfoot and the Abominable Snowman…err…Snowwoman.
Packaging
The window-front box is designed in the same fashion as past IWG figures. It’s a little larger than the rest of the line, but that might be due to larger figures.
The Figures
Sasquatch and Yeti are both flocked. If you’re not familiar with this
lingo…it means that the vinyl has a fuzzy layer on it to make it feel
somewhat plush-like. They have 4 points of articulation (arms and
hands) and are 7” tall. The run is limited to 500 pieces of each
character.
So what’s the difference between these two figures? Sasquatch has a
soul patch (it’s flocked!) and Yeti has nipples. Oh! And of course,
the colors are different. Sasquatch has an orange chainsaw to chop up
poachers, while Yeti has a Ghurka knife and rock filled snowballs.
Since these figures are in love…they can also hold hands!
Our Opinion
Whenever I pick up a flocked toy, it inevitably brings me back to one
Easter as a child. That’s when I woke up and found Panthor (Skeletor’s
purple panther) in my basket. That was the first time I ever saw a
flocked toy.
The Sasquatch and Yeti figures are the first flocked toys in the
Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo line. Rocket World churned these
characters out in a rather short amount of time, but you’d never know
it. The designs make them perfect fits for the IWG line. They are
slightly larger than the rest of the line, which was intended. I
would have liked to see a little sculpting on the back on the
figure…like a Hannibal butt. I have to admit that the accessories in
the line keep getting better. The chainsaw is very well done.
Remember that Patrick Ma and Rocket World donate a portion of the profits to various non-profit wildlife groups.
