REVIEW: Bad Bad Kitty Monster
Patch Together, who has been known to release a resin figure or two, has teamed up with artist/designer ProjectBlue02. The figure, which is named Bad Bad Kitty Monster, is described by the creator as follows:
Inspired by all the things I always loved about creepy corky characters. Hoodies and huge zippers, zigzag glowy mouth, black out face with glowing eyes and some bright blue with stripes to help liven up this dark creature. It's cute but has huge clawed hands, makes you a bit unsure if you want to hug it or run away.

The Bad Bad Kitty Monster is packaged in a plain white box. Inside, the figure is stored in between two pieces of Styrofoam. Included with the resin piece is a tube of super glue that will allow you to glue the tail on to the body.
The Bad Bad Kitty Monster resin is...hmm. There are things about the design that I like and others that I don't. Let's take a gander at the stuff that I don't like, first.
Essentially, I'm not a fan of the bottom half of the figure. I'm not sure if it's the running pose or the chosen colors (or a combination of the two), but something just seems awkward about it. Also, I noticed that one of the feet has sculpted and painted pads on the paw, while the other is simply painted on.
But I do like the top half of Bad Bad Kitty Monster. I like the oversized zipper pull tab. I'm a fan of the blue seams that run along the character's sweatshirt. But my favorite aspect of this figure is the paintwork around the eyes and mouth. The various shades of blue replicate the glowing look that the artist's illustration was conveying.
So that's why it's a mixed bag for me. Maybe if there was black paint separating the shades of blue on the legs and tail, since the bottom half lacks the color that is so predominant on the top half.
OVERALL: Tis the quandary of a toy review. When the same figure has aspects that you really like and others that you don't, what can you say? My suggestion? If you like the design, as I do, put it behind a row of slightly smaller figures. Problem solved.
