In Part 2 of our Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo mini figure review, we examine three more of the little IWG characters. Remember that all 9 figures are currently available through the Rocket World website for $7.99 each. They are all sold individually and include a skull and crossbones with unique damage inflicted by the character’s weapon of choice.
Here's a preview of the 3 new Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo special edition figures. Produced by STRANGEco and designed by Rocket World - the 3 new bears will use the same body design as Titus...just different paint applications.
From left to right - Titus the Grizzly Bear (released last year), Henson the Polar Bear (limited to 100), Septimius the Black Bear (limited to 100) and Peary the Bloody Polar Bear (limited to 100, only at Kidrobot). Look for them at your favorite vinyl outlet sometime in January 2006.
If you’ve read any of my previous reviews, you know that I am a fan of Rocket World’s Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo line of figures. I bestowed upon them the title of best toy line for 2004 for their 6-inch rotocast vinyl figures. Patrick, of Rocket World, has yet again teamed up with STRANGEco to produce a very cool line of figures.
The I.W.G. mini figure line contains the same characters as Series 1 of the larger vinyl figures. If you are a fan of the larger versions, you’ll definitely like the mini line. All of the characters are equipped with the same accessories and they all come with an added bonus – a skull and crossbones that specifically displays the damage inflicted by each character’s weapon.
This review will be our first of 3 revolving around the new I.W.G. mini line. Three reviews with 3 characters in each review. Don’t worry…all 9 characters are currently available.
Rocket World has created an exclusive bloody polar bear...exclusive to Kidrobot. This is a limited edition addition to the Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo. Peary is an extra bloody polar bear (he looks a lot like Titus) and limited to only 100 pieces. He is 7 inches tall, so it's the normal vinyl figure and not a member of the mini figure line. It looks like Peary got into some tomato sauce...but that's actually human blood (I like the smeared handprint).
We were able to snag some photos of the new line of Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo (I.W.G.) figures from Rocket World. Check out the nice packaging...it somewhat resembles the original line...just a little more colorful. You can also see that every I.W.G. mini comes packaged with a special skull and crossbones that is specified to the characters weapon damage. For more info, visit Rocket World or STRANGEco's websites.
Rocket World now has the entire line of Insurents Wilderness Gruppo (IWG) mini figures up for pre-order. They are just shrunken down replicas of the original vinyl toys. Each figure is also selling for less than $10. If you enjoyed the original IWG line, you'll love the IWG minis.

I.W.G. minis!! We've been waiting for these figures for a long time (or maybe it just feels like a long time). And it appears that our wait is almost over. In time for Halloween, we should all be able to get our hands on the new line of Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo mini figures.
All of Series 1 will be represented. Every 3-inch figure includes the same weapon as their larger counterpart - as well as a skull and crossbones that is damaged according to the type of weapon the figure has. Be on the lookout for this very cool set from Rocket World.
As most readers realize…I really enjoy Rocket World’s Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo (I.W.G.). The line of figures received my award for the Best Toy Line of 2004 with their initial release of animal characters. Since then, Rocket World (otherwise known as Patrick Ma) has added onto their very popular – and successful – I.W.G. line with a number of new characters. Also, look for the mini figures to be released later this year…and we are anxiously waiting for the Astral Overseers (the extraterrestrial friends of the I.W.G.) to be revealed.
So we all should know the basic premise behind this line. The Astral Overseers infected the members of the I.W.G. with a virus that has allowed them the ability to communicate and form a cohesive group. This group has set out to end poaching and the destruction of the environment.
The 3rd set of 3 I.W.G. figures was released at Comic Con. This included Irra the Owl, Desmond the Dolphin and Astrid the Jaguar. There were also 2 exclusive I.W.G. figures – one through Rocket World and one through STRANGEco. Taharka the Black Rhino was made available through Rocket World and sold out promptly. Huey the Black Panther was sold through STRANGEco – I was able to snag one of them.
