Our Opinion
I'm not familiar with Mass Effect. After seeing the video game series described as “sci-fi action role-playing video games”, I now realize why that is. I like sci-fi films. I like video games. But for some reason, I don't like sci-fi video games.
With that being said, I can look at the Alliance Normandy SR-2 with unbiased eyes. But that lack of knowledge also means that I needed to go and look at what the ship really looks like. From what I can tell, it looks like a fairly good replica.
But if you look a little closer...you'll notice a lot of sloppy paint. The silver areas, and a lot of the intricate sculpt detailing, just aren't that detailed. The text logos look clean, but they are decals.Since the Normandy SR-2 is a delicate resin piece with lots of breakable areas, it includes a black base with a display peg. It's really the only way that you'd be able to display the piece, but there is the option to just set the ship on your desk or shelf.
I guess the folks who would purchase this are hardcore fans of the Mass Effect series. I can't imagine many non-gamers dropping anywhere between $21.00 and $35.00 on a relatively small resin statuette of a spaceship that they are unfamiliar with.
