With all of the hullabaloo surrounding San Diego Comic Con and the exclusives that were available there, it's easy to forget that there were other releases in July. We saw a new Uglydoll – Suddy – released from David, Sun-Min and Pretty Ugly.
Suddy is a very busy girl with a lot going on. She’s got no time for slow pokes and doesn’t want to wait around for laggards. If you want to keep up with her, you’ll have to live life in the fast lane. That means waking up in the morning and going to be having lived your life to the fullest! But what does that mean? It means she loves you and also candy.
Manufacturer: Pretty Ugly
Artists: David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim
Dimensions: 12” tall
Suddy sports the normal Uglydoll green tag. It might be me, but it looks like the bio and the illustrated Suddy, on the inside of the tag, are a little larger than previous Uglys.
The Uglydoll folks must have a love of the Pantone color chart. It seems that no two Uglys are the exact same color. Oh...there are a lot that look alike, but once you compare them...you'll see what I mean.
Suddy is a bright orange color. But if you look at the tag, you'll notice that the illustrated version of Suddy is more of a yellow-orange. I'm not sure if there was a reason behind changing up the color, but I wanted to make note.
The character features a pink oval nose, two downward pointing triangular teeth, and a pair of bent ears. The ears are actually interesting (I guess as interesting as plush ears could be). One of them is sewn a sharp angle, while the other is curved.
Overall, I think Suddy is a solid Uglydoll character. She's probably not one of the most memorable designs that David and Sun-Min have released, although it seems to be increasingly difficult to break through those core Uglys (Ice-Bat, Wage, Babo, etc). But people who like orange have a new Uglydoll to cuddle.
