Background

David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim introduced a 2011 San Diego Comic Con Exclusive Uglydoll during last month's convention. Cookie Dream Babo was only available to purchase at the Pretty Ugly SDCC booth...and they literally flew out of the booth.

When Babo sleeps he dreams of cookies, but when he wakes up he has ever bigger dreams. What are your dreams? See that building over there? See that car? That road? That all came from and idea in someone's mind. So when someone tells you it's all in your head, smile as wide as Babo does, because you're on your way. Babo may be a dreamer, but he knows the dreams become real through action. So now it's time to wake up and eat the cookie.

Tag

This Uglydoll tag is a little different. Rather than only showing the illustrated character, Cookie Dream Babo has an illustration of babo sleeping in his bed as he's dreaming about flying and eating a cookie. (That's how 80% of my dreams end up)

Our Opinion

I think that Cookie Dream Babo's background story might be the most inspirational Uglydoll character bio I've ever seen. And while it makes me want to follow my dreams...it also reminds me that I don't get nearly enough sleep.

So...if you were at San Diego Comic Con, it's quite possible that you walked by the Pretty Ugly to only discover no Cookie Dream Babo's. They were flying off of the shelves like hotcakes (or really good cookies). They did bring in the reserves, but – according to David – they tried to produce just enough for the Con. That means you likely won't find any popping up on Uglydolls.com.

The Cookie Dream Babo Uglydoll is basically the classic Babo character with a pair of white wings. But there's a not-so-secret secret. The plush has faces on each side. On one side, you have the awake Babo, while the other has Babo with X's for eyes.

Quality-wise, it's your normal high-quality Uglydoll. The only thing I noticed on this specific Ugly is that the mouth and eyes on the “asleep” face appear to be tilted at about a 10 degree angle.

As far as purchasing a Cookie Dream Babo, you're probably going to have to do the ebay route (unless they re-release the plush for New York Comic Con). Selling for $25.00 at SDCC, it looks like they're selling around $40.00 on ebay.
