Packaging

The Idolz come packaged in classic action figure style – carded within a plastic bubble (blister pack). There’s some artwork on the back, but since you have to tear the bubble off, you won’t feel bad about throwing the packaging away.

Our Opinion

Gruntor looks fairly similar to the Moai (or large stone statues) that speckle the landscape of Easter Island. Get about five of Idolz and put them on a hill in your backyard –recreate the scene.

The figure disassembles into seven pieces – the body, two feet, two arms (downward pointing finger arm and open hand for hammer), hammer and base stand. The body has two holes in its head so that you can weave a necklace through it. Gruntor does not actually include a necklace or lanyard, so you’ll have to supply your own.

There’s only one figure in the series released so far, with other color variants (characters) on the way. And while you can purchase several Gruntors to stack, most people will want a few different colorways to collect. And while I don’t know what Idolz Toys plans with their future releases, I’d suggest switching up the hammer accessory – maybe a torch on one…a mixed drink on another.

These are supposed to be “played with” toys, so the quality isn’t top of the notch. They use a hard plastic – not rotocast vinyl– so that they’re durable. You can see seems where the halves of the body were joined, and the arms don’t sit flush against the body (it’s slightly curved). But, again, these are supposed to be fun toys.
