Background

For today’s review, we’re going to be looking at two of Toy2R’s newest 2.5” tall Qee lines – the Wood Grain Qees and the Reservoir Dogs Qee line. These are both blind boxed series, and we pulled one from each lineup…to give you a look at what these lines offer.

Packaging

Both lines are packaged in blind box fashion. The Wood Grain series has a photo of the Bear Qee on the front, with the six possible draws on the side panel. The Reservoir Dogs line has the iconic film logo on the front, with illustrations of all 14 designs (and their ratios) on the side panel. Inside, both figures were packaged in a clear plastic bag.

Our Opinion

The first thing I noticed, since it’s been several years between Qee purchases, is that these Qees seem slightly more glossy than their 2004 brethren. Not that it’s good or bad, but it’s simply an observation.

First, we’ll look at the Wood Grain Toyer Qee. I was lucky, because this is probably the best of the three figure designs. The wood grain look is extremely well done. I can’t tell. Is it paint? Is that the plastic? I’m stumped. (It's actually a special printing technique) But it definitely looks like it’s wood, albeit wood with a nice, glossy protectant. One thing…I know it’s a Toy2R product, but why the logo and website across the chest?

I was lucky enough to pull one of the character Qees – Mr. Brown -from the Reservoir Dogs line. That’s a good thing, because I don’t believe I’d like the movie logo variants. There are seven characters dressed in the suit and sunglasses, one that appears to be tied up, a secret chase figure, four logo variants, and a blood spatter version.

Toy2R has used the Qees’ painted-on ties to differentiate between the various film characters. If you ever saw Reservoir Dogs, you probably remember that they were each given a name based on a color. So, the pink tie means Mr. Pink, etc. Again, I could live without the giant logo on the ear, even though it makes more sense in this case. Also, I might have chosen the MonQ design rather than the BearBearQ for a line of human characters.
