Background
One of the newest Uglydoll designs from David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim is named Winkolina. The bright yellow/green Ugly is the third character from the 2009 wave. We’ve reprinted Winkolina’s background story here:
Tag
As with all Uglydolls, Winkolina’s tag features an illustration of the character as well as the above listed background information.
The Figure
Winkolina, like most Uglydolls, is available in four various sizes (2-Foot, Classic, Little Ugly and Keychain). We’re looking at the Classic (14” tall) and keychain (4” tall) versions for this review.
The bright yellow/green Uglydoll features a single orange eye – much like a Cyclops. The character also has four yellow teeth, downward pointing arms and long, skinny feet.
Our Opinion
Winkolina reminds me a lot of the Uglyworm plush that was released last year. I look at Winkolina as the second step on the Uglyworm evolutionary tree. It could be that they each have that single, Cyclops-like eye in the middle of their noggins. Or...it could be that they're green.
However, when you get the two next to each other, you can see that they are very different shades of green. And Winkolina's shade of green (or yellow/green) might possibly stop traffic. It’s bright! And these photos don’t really give that brightness its just due. You really have to see the plush in person to realize that this might be the brightest Uglydoll to date.
You can pick one up at the following:
Frozen Empire Toys: $18.50 (Classic)
