Background

Ze Super Zeros are hero friends whose super powers and problems blend. They have their pluses and minuses too - they're super special, just like you! Each Super Zero has a "mini" power and a related challenge that teach kids to embrace what makes them unique and find their inner Super Zero.

The line consists of six different animals characters dressed up in their super hero garb: a monkey, hippo, zebra, crocodile, mouse and koala. For purposes of this review, we’ll be looking at two of the six Super Zeros characters – Zebu the Zebra and Zola the Koala.

Tag

I decided to swap out the packaging category for tag, since very few plushies come packaged in a box anymore. The tags for all of the characters are the same. The small booklet features profiles for all six characters (in English and French).

The Figure

Ze Super Zeros measure approximately 9” in height and feature a beanbag bottom for displaying. Each plush comes with a detachable cape comforter as well as a small pouch. The cape features a patch with SZ on it and ties to a small tag on the back of the plush.

As we previously said, each character comes with some “pluses and minuses”. And here they are for the two characters we’re looking at.

Zebu the Zebra: I am a super good at hiding, using my stripes as ze camouflage! But, I am always getting lost, but my spotted cape helps my zero friends find me.

Zola the Koala: I am nocturnal and can stay awake all night keeping watch.  But, I get very tired and always fall asleep during ze day, so I cozy up with my cape and take a nap.

Our Opinion

I first noticed these masked animal characters while perusing the FAO Schwarz website.  Thinking that they might be a group of masked bandits, I quickly learned that this group of caped crusaders were actually Super Heroes…or Super Zeros. Even though they look to be primarily targeted towards kids, collectors will love these cuddly, displayable plushies.

The pair that we had a chance to look at – the koala and zebra – might be the two standouts of the line. Either way, there’s not much not to like about these. The characters aren’t you average take on these specific animals. They all have fun little background stories. And the cape can be used as a hankie if you’re in a pinch. Just be sure to wash it before retying.
