The second character from Tonner Doll’s exclusive Women of Power line is Poison Ivy: Sealed With a Kiss. This is the fashion doll version of Poison Ivy, aka Pamela Isley. She’s all “dolled” up in formal attire as opposed to the classic DC Comics attire you would find her sporting.
As a nemesis of Batman, Poison Ivy is known for being the DC world’s most famous eco-terrorist. Usually seen in an outfit made out of plant life, this Tonner Character Figure’s garb is a change of pace.
The Women of Power line continues to use the same packaging that the DC Stars figures come enclosed in. The all black box has the DC Stars logo on the front lid. And the figure inside is fastened in with bows and Styrofoam (with a fashionable hairnet).
The Poison Ivy: Sealed With a Kiss Tonner Character Figure is approximately 16“ tall and has 13 points of articulation (neck, ribs, waist, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees). The figure has red, styled hair that hangs down in curls.
The variant Poison Ivy’s attire consists of: a lime green “jersey gown” (Tonner’s words, not mine) with unattached sleeves; lime green high heels; gold leaf earrings with beaded details; lime green tights. The dress is adorned in feathers, leaves and beads. Each figure includes a high quality stand.
This figure, like the rest of the Women of Power line, is a limited edition of 200 pieces.
While this version of Poison Ivy doesn’t show her in the traditional ivy covered outfit, I actually like this figure a little bit better. Tonner has done a great job combining their fashion sense with the character from DC Comics. However, I’m guessing that it wouldn’t be as impressive if they decided to dress up some of the male superheroes in the latest fashion.
So what makes this version better than the original? Maybe…subtlety. While the original Poison Ivy was covered in faux ivy and leaves, this one is a little subtler using those same materials to decorate a small portion of her dress.
