Background

Cho Chang is a Ravenclaw student who is best known for being a number of Harry Potter's firsts: crush, kiss, girlfriend, and break-up.  Scottish actress Katie Leung plays the character in the Potter films.

Tonner Doll Company has produced a TCF based on Cho Chang at Hogwarts.  The Tonner Character Figure is an authorized likeness of Katie Leung and approved by Warner Bros. Studios.

Packaging

The figure is secured within the normal Potter TCF packaging.  The black rectangular box has the Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire logo on the front of the box.  And the figure inside is, as always, well protected with ribbons, Styrofoam and a hairnet.

The Figure

The Cho Chang at Hogwarts Tonner Character Figure is approximately 17” in height and sports 14 points of articulation (neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, chest, hips, knees, and ankles).  The figure has a hard plastic body and a hand painted vinyl head with rooted black saran hair.

Cho Chang comes dressed in Hogwarts uniform, which includes a gray wool skirt, button-down cardigan, white cotton shirt, gray tights, blue and gray tie, faux leather shoes, Ravenclaw robe and wand.  As always, the TCF includes a quality display stand.  And this figure is limited to a run of 2,500 pieces.

Our Opinion

Katie Leung isn’t an A-list celebrity, so upon seeing the figure, I didn’t think “Wow! That looks just like Katie Leung.” (See Tonner's Kirsten Dunst, Alan Rickman and Keira Knightly sculpts) That’s not saying it’s not a good likeness of her, because I believe it's pretty good.

If I had to grade the face sculpt, I’d say it’s about 90% on target.  There’s just a little something missing.  Can I say she might need to look a little more Asian?  Or is that politically incorrect?  Tonner has definitely changed the face sculpt from the prototype photo that is on their site, and I like the production one better.

When it comes to the outfit, it is perfect.  Tonner always goes for high quality fashion, but it’s up to you whether you want to cover up Cho Chang’s outfit with her Ravenclaw robe.  And one feature I like about this figure is the sculpted hand.  Her right hand is sculpted to hold her magic wand…although in my photos, I have the wand facing the wrong way.
