Background
Pamela Lillian Isley – aka Poison Ivy - is a DC Comics villainess who is normally seen facing off with Batman. The character first appeared in Batman #181 (June 1966) and her special abilities include creating love potions, utilizing plant toxins and the ability to control plantlife.
You might have seen the character (played by Uma Thurman) if you were one of the fifty people who actually saw the Batman & Robin film back in the late 90’s. Luckily, when Tonner Doll Company decided to produce Poison Ivy as a new DC Star Tonner Character Figure, they decided to base the figure solely on the comic book.
Packaging
Poison Ivy is packaged in the standard DC Stars rectangular box. As always, the TCF figure is secured in the box using ribbons and protected with plastic and a rather fashionable hairnet.
The Figure
Poison Ivy is 16” tall and has 13 points of articulation. The TCF is produced with a vinyl head, PVC body and rooted red saran hair. She is dressed in a leaf print bodysuit with zip-up high heels. The outfit is covered with little ivy leaves and she wears what appears to be a boa made of fake Christmas tree material. As always, the figure includes a stand.
This is the first villain that Tonner has produced for their DC Stars line, and limited to a run of 2,000 pieces. Catwoman might be the only female villainess who is more popular than Poison Ivy, so all in all, it was a good choice.
Our Opinion
It appears that Tonner Doll Company has begun rolling out the villains from their DC Stars line. First was Poison Ivy, and just last week, they revealed photos of the upcoming Joker TCF. Both are very impressive, and we finally have some bad guys (and gals) to balance out the good ones.
The Poison Ivy figure is loaded with detail. While it might not look that way, due to being primarily a green color-scheme, all of those little leaves are all stitched onto the various pieces of clothing, ropes, etc. And the best thing about this Poison Ivy is that you won’t wake up with an itchy rash after touching her.
