Background
Dookie-Poo is a magical ground burrowing creature known technically as an "ELFCHIDNA." Dookie lives in POOVILLE but in his never ending quest to become friends with the entire world he can be found anywhere, at any time! Dookie-Poo may have the IQ of topsoil but his big heart, boundless optimism, and innocent outlook on life makes him the most loyal and best friend anyone could ever want.
The Dookie-Poo vinyl line is a joint project between creator and designer Manny Galán and the producer - Chaotic Unicorn (with help from ESC-Toy). The first wave of figures (or Series 1) includes 7 different versions of Dookie-Poo. In this review, we’ll be looking at the first four characters: Dookie-Poo, Sleepy-Poo, Zombie-Poo and Blankie-Poo.
Packaging
The packaging for the Dookie-Poo line is the same for each figure. It is a window-front box that is designed to resemble a tree. The different versions of Dookie-Poo are listed on the rear of the box. And there is some comic banter on the side panels courtesy of the Pellets.
Each figure is secured within the box in a one-piece plastic tray.
The Figures
Each Dookie-Poo figure stands 4” in height and has zero points of
articulation. All 7 rotocast vinyl characters use the same body
sculpt. That sculpt consists of eyes and a nose that are slightly
raised from the body (which is tilted back at the shoulders) and arms
that appear to be sculpted separate of the main body.
Dookie-Poo: The original version is limited to a run of 500 pieces.
Sleepy-Poo: This glow-in-the-dark version is limited to a run of 200 pieces. Only the pink parts glow, but they glow yellow-green!
Zombie-Poo: Was a NYCC exclusive figure limited to a run of 200
pieces. It’s GID, but none of the pad-printed areas glow…given you a
ghostly looking figure.
Blankie-Poo: The DIY version is only available via Dookie-Poo.com or ChaoticUnicorn.com. The version size is not known.
Our Opinion
When Chaotic Unicorn and ESC-Toy released the Dookie-Poo plush trio, it
was my first glimpse at the somewhat simple character from Pooville.
They were some of my favorite plushies of the year and these are some
of my favorite vinyl figures.
The design is nice and simple, and that’s what is appealing about the
character. It doesn’t need articulation or anything flashy to set
itself apart from the pack…Dookie-Poo is just plain cute.
I would have liked to see the same Dookie-Poo behind that is on the
plush and Manny’s illustrations. Instead of the butt crack, you have
www.Dookie-Poo.com by Manny Galán.
While I do have my favorite designs, you’ll have to wait until Part 2 of this review to determine which is my top choice.
