The newest character from Tonner Doll’s officially licensed Pirates of the Caribbean Tonner Character Figure line is – Will Turner. Portrayed by actor Orlando Bloom, the blacksmith’s apprentice/pirate is one of the three main characters from the Pirate’s trilogy.
With this figure, Tonner, having already released three different Elizabeth Swann TCFs and one Captain Jack Sparrow figure, completed the trio of swashbucklers (in pirate outfits).
The Will Turner TCF is stowed away in the Pirates of the Caribbean themed rectangular Tonner packaging. The figure is packed in there wearing a hair net, so if Orlando Bloom ever plays a lunch lady in a film…you’re all set. As always, this figure is well packaged in a secure fashion.
The Will Turner Tonner Character Figure stands approximately 17” tall and has 14 points of articulation (neck, shoulders, chest, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles). The authorized likeness of actor Orlando Bloom has brown, rooted saran hair that’s tied back in a ponytail.
The figure’s outfit includes: a long, blue overcoat with pewter buttons; a red, cotton open neck shirt; knee high pants with buttons down the side; white socks; faux leather (zipper-up) black boots.
Accessories include: soft tweed waist wrap; faux leather brown belt; faux leather brown sword holster; single hoop earring; Aztec gold medallion; resin sword; figure stand.
This figure is limited to a run of 2,500 pieces.
I don’t know if photos of the initial face sculpt for the Will Turner TCF are out there, but he looked a little feminine…and not much like Orlando Bloom. Well, Tonner went back to the drawing board and got it right. Dare I say perfect?
This face sculpt might be the best in Tonner’s Pirates of the Caribbean line. And I thought they did a pretty good job on the Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann TCFs.
Of course, the clothing is top of the line. They look like a miniature replica of the actor’s actual outfit. Which is obviously what they’d be gunning for. But be careful with the resin sword as it might break if you put too much pressure on it. (I'd suggest not using it in any of your fruity adult cocktails)
