Background
Dark Horse has given the reigns to designer – dKiller Panda – to interpret some of the classic horror characters. The Monster Theater line, from SD Toys, gives collectors a deformed look with a little bit of cuteness. There are currently two sets available: Set 1 – Vampi, London and Invisible; Set 2 – Frankie, Bride and Mummy. For purposes of this review, we are looking at Set 2.
Packaging
The figures are packaged side-by-side in a rectangular window front box. This allows the in package displayers the chance to leave the figures in their box. Also, there are plenty of illustrations, including drawings of the characters on the rear of the box.
The Figures
The Monster Theater line is made of PVC plastic (a little more solid
than rotocast vinyl). Each of the figures is approximately 3” in
height. They are painted in black and white, since most of the figures
are classic horror film characters. There is no articulation in this
line.
Our Opinion
This is definitely a new twist on some of the most recognizable classic
horror characters. A little deformed, but mostly cute…the line is a
collectable for all ages. dKiller Panda, a Barcelona based artist, has
put his own twist on these figures. The mainly white eyes seem to be a
theme with his artwork, and it’s something that we enjoy.
Not only did Dark Horse and SD Toys create these two sets, but they
will also be selling display cases. This means that you most likely
will be able to go to your favorite toyshop and purchase an individual
figure. That makes sense since some folks might be partial to one or
two specific characters.

I believe DkillerPanda is in fact two Barcelona based artists working together.
I saw these pictured in Dot Dot Dash and have been waiting patiently for them to drop.
You can indeed get them individually boxed (not blind either) and I have just got myself a full set.. They are damn, damn fine indeed… DkillerPanda also has a set of three little artbooks of their characters available from their website.. All of the toys are from illustrations in these books..
I look forward to a series 2…
