Jamungo's newest product - Blow Ups Dolls (BUDS) Series 2 - have reached the wholesaler - DKE Toys. That means that they're ready to ship to retailers and you'll see them at your favorite shop shortly.
The 3.5" tall blind box
figure line features designs by Kozik, Horkey, Dalek, Meomi, Destroy Rock
City, Gunsho, Little Friends, John Pound (Garbage Pail Kids artist), MCA, Jermaine Rogers, Bobby Dixon, VanBeater, Muttpop(Gobi), & Ferg.
DKE Toys is a wholesaler and distributor for some of the big name (and several smaller name) companies in the vinyl toy market. While some of the products on display at Dov's booth could be seen at other booths at SDCC, there were plenty of products (and prototypes...and exclusives) that you could only get a glimpse of at their booth.
Some of our favorites included Series 2 of Jamungo's BUDs. Any company that lets John Pound (of Garbage Pail Kids fame) work his magic on a platform gets kudos from me. Also, Erick Scarecrow's Soopa Coin-Up Bros. prototype looks like it should generate a lot of interest from vinyl fans and classic video gamers.
DKE Toys also had the new pieces from Play Imaginative, Frank Kozik and a number of self produced pieces from some of today's best artists.
Erick Scarecrow has sent this sneak peek of his Soopa Coin-Up Bros. vinyl figure. It'll be on display at the DKE Toys booth (#4832) at San Diego Comic Con. Hmm...for some reason I am going to guess that this has something to do with retro 80's video games. Just a guess, though.
Jeremi Rimel (creator of Autopsy Baby dolls) has created a new vinyl figure called Think-UP for the vinyl art toy company - Miscreation Toys. Think-UP is a blank do-it-yourself vinyl bust that comes in 2 different base styles (standard and creature). If you'll be at SDCC, check out the DKE Toys booth (#4832) for a glimpse at the figure. A release date will be announced soon.
DKE Toys will have a 100 piece run of Touma's Grabbit Wood Finish San Diego comic Con exclusive. The piece is produced by Play Imaginative and will be a total run of 300 (only the 100 SDCC exclusive figures will have the special mouth and SDCC logo). The figure will include a signed certificate of authenticity and a signed and numbered artist print.
The Vader Project, a re-imagining of the iconic Darth Vader helmet by some
of today's hottest pop and underground artists, will have its World
Premiere May 24 to 28th, 2007 at Star
Wars Celebration IV, a landmark event being held at the Los Angeles
Convention Center to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars. The
five-day event is expected to attract more than 25,000 Star Wars fans
from around the world
The Vader Project is presented by Master Replicas Inc. and curated by Dov Kelemer of DKE Toys. Kelemer gathered 75
of the hottest underground and pop surrealist painters, artists and
designers to participate. Each artist was given a Master
Replicas 1:1 scale prop replica of the actual Darth Vader helmet used in
the Star Wars films. Each helmet served as a blank canvas for each
artist to paint, design, mash up, and customize.
Here is a partial list of artists, as well as some smaller photos of some of their work. When they say 75 of the top artists...they really mean it! We've shown you works by Suckadelic (top) and Alex Pardee (middle) thanks to DKE Toys!
According to DKE Toys, adFunture'sG-Robot figure is set to be delivered to the wholesaler this month. The Original colorway, limited to 400 pieces, and the Desert Camo (or as the ad says...Desset Camo) will be limited to a run of 300.
A little while back, we showed you Anna Chambers'Lucy Owl designer plush. The version we showed you was Lucy Owl in Burgundy. This one, however, is the Chilly Blue version. It's limited to only 100 pieces and they measure approximately 10" tall by 8" wide. The line is being distributed by DKE Toys. Look for them to retail in the area of $30.
Dreamland Toyworks will be having launch parties at Rarebreed in Philadelphia (April 28th) and at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles (May 12th) to celebrate the dropping of their first toy line - Carl Jones' Hoodiez. Each character will be limited to 1,000 pieces in it's primary colorway, 250 pieces in greyscale and 250 pieces in all black vinyl.
