Mike Leavitt’s Empire Peaks 3D-Print on Demand

Sculptor Mike Leavitt is releasing one of the first series of conceptual pop art to 3D-print and deliver to your doorstep. Leavitt is now offering his Star-Wars-themed Gandhi, Lincoln and Martin Luther King political satires to buy on demand. The 4-inch to 5-inch figures can be printed in candy-apple plastic, stainless steel, bronze, and solid gold with the 3D-printing service Shapeways.com.

Mike's "Empire Peaks" wood statue series debuted at New York's Jonathan LeVine Gallery in late 2013. Before opening night, he had the largest wood statues scanned by a local hi-tech medical engineering firm. And now you can purchase one of the 3D-printed pieces, ranging in price from $29.00 to $21,000.00 (yesh...that's gold).

Maleficent is the recently released Disney film that tells the reimagined tale of Sleeping Beauty, as told from the perspective of the Mistress of All Evil (portrayed by Angelina Jolie). To celebrate the movie’s success, Hot Toys has unveiled photos and info about the sixth scale Maleficent Collectible Figure. It's slated to be released around Q4 of 2014 or Q1 of 2015.

Monster Factory’s Mythicals

Mythicals Cthulhu Dragon Unicorn

Monster Factory has announced a new line of plush creatures - The Mythicals. They actually went to fans and tallied votes for the first three characters that would be produced. The winners are the Dragon, Cthulhu, and Unicorn. These will be part of a Kickstarter campaign that is slated to begin at the beginning of July. Can you think up any names for these guys?

Alien – The Nostromo Collection

Titan Merchandise x Lunartik have teamed up with 20th Century Fox to reproduce the entire crew of the USS Nostromo - from the classic film, Alien - in a Titans Vinyl Figure Series. The 12 piece collection will be released in a 3" tall blind box format with 4 “hidden chase” figures.

Artist proofs will be available from Matt JOnes at the Lunartik Art Shop. No word yet on when they'll be released.

MadKnits’ June Monster-of-the-Month

The folks at MadKnits have announced June's Monster-of-the-Month. Otis is a closed release of 20 pieces, with each one signed and numbered on a laser-etched cassette tape. Standing in at 10" tall, Otis features a fur mohawk that runs down his back. 

You'll be able to pick on up at the MadKnits Store for $38.00 beginning at Noon ET on Saturday June 21st 2014.

A little bit about him:

Otis is the lead singer of one of the sweetest bands to ever hit the Northwest: Otis and the Canadian Soldiers! His band is a killer blend of punk and dance jams, and is made up completely of MadKnits monsters. Originally from Canada (and before that outerspace) Otis is stoked to be travelling again and bringing his unique sound and fashion sense stateside! Keep an eye out, he might be hitting a venue near you soon...

3DRetro Grand Opening and Suited Birdies Release

The grand opening of the 3DRetro store takes place this Saturday (June 21st 2014) from 7PM to 11PM at their Glendale, CA location. 

One of the releases taking place at the opening will be a new 3DRetro produced figure, from artist Nathan Ota, named Suited Birdies. They'll be releasing the Heart Edition, which is limited to 200 pieces worldwide. The figure is life-size and will be selling for $55.00. The artist, Nathan Ota, will be attending the event and signing the figure for lucky collectors and fans.

Legends of Cthulhu Kickstarter Project

Legends of Cthulhu

Warpo, creator of artisan retro toys, has launched a Kickstarter project to fund Legends of Cthulhu, the first retro-styled action figure line based on the characters of H.P. Lovecraft.

Legends of Cthulhu is a four-figure line featuring iconic characters from the world of H.P. Lovecraft – The Professor, The Cultist, The Deep One, and Spawn of Cthulhu. Each figure stands 3.75” tall, has 5 points of articulation, and comes with character-appropriate accessories. Figures will come packaged in a nostalgic, Kickstarter-exclusive blister-card.

The project will be funded on Wednesday, July 9th 2014 at 8:50AM ET.
