Luke Chueh Book

Titan Books, Gallery1988 and Luke Chueh have teamed up to release The Art of Luke Chueh Bearing The Unbearable, a 192 page compendium of Luke's work from 2003 through 2009. The 9" x 12.25" hardcover book features full color illustrations, some covering two entire pages.

Painting, art toys, and gallery show custom pieces are all given equal billing. The book does an excellent job documenting each piece with a name, medium, size and year created. Also, it's arranged chronologically, with each year (from 2003 to 2009) receiving its own chapter.

I've seen a number of art books over the years. Most shoot to compile an artist's works in a picture book format. And while Bearing The Unbearable gets an A+ for visual presentation, they offer you a look into the mind of the artist. Featuring short write-ups by friends and colleagues, you get a glimpse at Luke Chueh that might not be entirely apparent by simply viewing his artwork.

Featuring around 200 painting reproductions, I wouldn't be surprised if some folks have framed individual pages out of The Art of Luke Chueh. (It's that well-produced) The Art of Luke Chueh Bearing The Unbearable is well worth the suggested retail price of $34.95.
