Background

Sideshow Collectibles recently added another figure to their Star Wars Order of the Jedi line.  Ki-Adi-Mundi, a member of the Jedi Council, is the latest character to be realized in the 1:6 scale format.

Ki-Adi-Mundi was an alien representative who sat on the Jedi Council.  A humanoid being, Ki’s most distinguishing physical feature was an enlarged conical cranium that contained a binary brain.  When Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn reported a Sith attack during the event surrounding the Battle of Naboo, Ki-Adi-Mundi expressed shock at the notion.

Packaging

Sideshow’s Star Wars packaging is one of the best in the business.  The front and side panels have photos of the figure in action poses, while the rear panel has stills from the various films.  The front flap of the box is secured using magnets.  On the inside, there is information about the Order of the Jedi as well as Ki-Adi-Mundi and a window panel to view the figure.

The Figure

The Ki-Adi-Mundi Order of the Jedi figure stands approximately 12” in height and has 30+ points of articulation (using their Art S. Buck body).  This Star Wars 1:6 scale figure is limited to a run of 3,000 pieces.

The figure is dressed in the following: a soft, khaki tunic; light brown pants; hooded dark brown robe; high brown boots; black, faux leather bag.

Accessories include: light blue, ignited lightsaber; unlit lightsaber; hip pouch bag; display base with Star Wars logo.

Our Opinion

Sideshow’s 1:6 scale Star Wars line is one of my personal favorites.  It might just be that my generation grew up with the original trilogy (and collecting just about everything with the phrase Star Wars on it).  So, I’ll just put it out there that my opinion might be slightly biased.

Nevertheless, the Ki-Adi-Mundi character comes from the recent trilogy (Episode I to III).  And it’s nice seeing that Sideshow is branching out past the main characters and bringing collectors some of the lesser-known individuals.

This is one of the better-produced outfits in the 1:6 scale Star Wars line.  It’s somewhat plain, but it doesn’t have pockets or a collar, which are often the downfall of 1:6 scale attire.

Finally, The head sculpt is extremely close to the character from the films.  And since Ki-Adi-Mundi doesn’t have what one would call an ordinary noggin, that’s a thumbs up to the Sideshow sculptors.

You can pick one up at the following:
