Tonner Doll Company announced their Pirates of the Caribbean license last year, and it immediately became a favorite of Plastic and Plush.  The Captain Jack Sparrow Tonner Character Figure won our award for best male 1/6 scale figure…even though it wasn’t really 1/6 scale.

Recently, they released a pair of Elizabeth Swann TCFs.  We’ll be taking a look at the Abandoned Bride dressed Tonner Character Figure.  The authorized likeness of actress Keira Knightly is sure to excite Pirates fans.

The Figure

The Abandoned Bride Elizabeth Swann Tonner Character Figure is approximately 16” tall with 13 points of articulation.  The TCF is wearing a cream colored wedding gown with lace cuffs, ribbon trim and a detailed embroidery pattern.  The train on the dress is actually detachable, in case it’s a little too bulky to place on a shelf.  Attached to the figure’s styled hair is a pearl headpiece with flowers and long veils on either side.

Accessories include a bouquet of flowers, a pair of earrings, brocade shoes and a necklace.  The figure is also packaged with a stand that Miss Swann is actually set upon (hidden by the dress).  This piece is limited to a run of 1,000.

Our Opinion

This is the most detailed Tonner product I have seen to date…and that’s saying something.  I thought the High Seas Elizabeth Swann was sure to be my favorite “highly articulated” female figure of 2008, but this one is definitely in the running.

The intricate beadwork and embroidery on the gown is top of the line.  And Tonner has done another great job with the face sculpt of a famous actress (Keira Knightley).  Although, at certain angles, I swear I see a little Celine Dion there.

One of these days, I would just like to meet the person whose job it is to style the hair on Tonner’s products.  Do they have a mini curling iron?  Who knows…but it’s some impressive work nonetheless.

My overall impression is that this is definitely worth the near $200 price tag.  You can tell that a ton of work went into making this figure utterly perfect.  It might be priced out of some folks budgets, but if you do pick it up…you will not be disappointed.

You can pick one up at the following:
