Toys Are Us: A Revolution In Plastic DVD


X-Ray Films new documentary on designer vinyl toys - Toys Are Us: A Revolution In Plastic - will be released on DVD at this summer's San Diego Comic Con International.

The movie explores the creative, sophisticated, and oftentimes challenging world of designer vinyl toys through the eyes of the designers and collectors who help create it. The film features interviews with such
artists as Frank Kozik, Patrick Ma, Tara McPherson, Kano, Erick Scarecrow, Mark Nagata, Brian Flynn, Mars-1, Jermaine Rogers, J Neth and more, as well as collectors and fans.

Toys Are Us was filmed on location at the artists' and collectors' homes and studios, various toy stores, and SDCC 2006, and features a soundtrack with music by Mindless Self Indulgence, Longway, Brian McCarty, Stick Shift, and I, Synthesist.

The DVD will be released on July 25th, 2007, at SDCC, where it will be available exclusively at the Toy Tokyo booth. Following the convention, the film can be ordered directly through the X-Ray Films web site.

Mark Nagata’s Custom Bart Simpson


Well, kaiju fans definitely have a new favorite entry in Toy2R's custom Bart Simpson Qee show.  Mark Nagata, of Max Toy Co. fame, has produced this amazing piece - turning Bart into Bart Zilla.

Wavedog at Animazing Gallery — Again

Animazing2's seems that Dan Fenelon - aka Wavedog - owns a piece of Animazing Gallery.  For the 2nd month in a row, they are displaying his custom artwork.  So you folks who missed it in June, better go check it out this month...especially the opening reception on July 14th.

Get To Know Your Shroom – Escape


In an effort to remind you of our Shiitakes Sightings contest (where winners get a ton of cool prizes), we - along with ESC-Toy - are going to be posting a new segment called Get to know your Shroom.  We'll be introducing you to the new characters in Erick Scarecrow's Shiitakes line. 

First up is Escape:

Max Toy Co. SDCC Exclusives


Max Toy Co. has sent us word about their San Diego Comic Con exclusives.  If you'll be at the show, you'll want to check out booth #4837 for the exclusive glow-in-the-dark Alien Xam as well as an exclusive version of Bwana Spoons' Edward the Gator.  You'll definitely want to put them on your wish list.


BLOC28 is Extended


The BLOC28 event has been extended through July 4th.  That means if you weren't able to make it out to Meltdown Comics to see the Disney inspired artwork, you'll have a few more days to take in the Mickey Mouse goodness.  And if you need to be convinced...just check out below.
