Background

The most feared creature of fantasy & folklore…the dragon has caused castles to crumble & villages to burn. In approximately 250 AD, dragons began to overwhelm the northern countries. The Shokunin, named Merlin, came from the East to find a noble warrior. Merlin found St. George and forged for him Excalibot, a suit of arms that was light as air and sharp as a sword. St. George slew all the dragons but one...Yira. In the final battle, St. George pushed Yira into the mouth of a volcano. Merlin used magic to collapse the walls of the volcano, sealing Yira in a rocky tomb. For centuries Yira has waited, swelling in power and rage, to exact his revenge.

Yira: The Dragon of Doom is the newest character to be released from Go Hero’s Mechabot line of kaiju inspired toys.   One of the many enemies of the hero Mechabot, Yira follows Tentikill as the third vinyl figure released by the company.

Packaging

There is no packaging to speak of.  The vinyl figure comes with a small tag that wraps around the Yira’s neck.

The Figure

Yira is approximately 17” long and 7” tall.  That’s almost a foot and a
half of vinyl…make sure you have an extra long shelf.  The dragon has 6
points of articulation
(legs, arms, neck and jaw).  The black version
is painted metallic black with red highlights on the underside of the
scales.  The eyes and teeth are painted gold.

Our Opinion

Steve Forde
and Go Hero wanted to top the immense size of the Tentikill
vinyl figure…and they have done just that.  Every good hero-villain
story needs imposing enemies to give the good guy the underdog role.

Upon first seeing the Stargoyles that Go Hero had developed to rival
Mechabot, I was hoping that Yira would be one of the first to go into
production.  We had to wait a little while - it’s funny to see a
copyright date of 2005 on the figure’s foot – but it was well worth the
wait.

The color scheme of the black version is probably my favorite.  (Go
Hero is very good at giving collectors several colorways)  Coloring
underneath the scales red gives the figure an almost glowing look.

Considering that there are a number of designer vinyl toys that are a
fraction of the size of Yira and cost twice as much…it’s a great value.

Yira is being distributed by DKE Toys.
