Emilio Subirá has released a new edition of his "I'm gonna burst" character. The "Yellow Bastard" version is a run of 6 pieces. They all come signed, numbered, and dated. Made out of polyurethane resin, the nearly 4.5-inch tall figure can be purchased for $69.00.
There aren’t many shows whose path is similar to that of The X-Files. The popular show ran for 9 seasons, from 1993 to 2002, and spawned a 1998 feature length film of the same name. Another movie followed 10 years after the first. Then, in 2016, the show returned for a 10th season. And they’re currently filming an 11th season to debut during the 2017/18 television season. (I guess, to a lesser extent, Twin Peaks could fall into this same scenario)
Back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, we saw The X-Files based toys from McFarlane and Sideshow. But we’ve recently seen the X-Files toy license pick up steam (again) with companies like threeA and Diamond Select Toys grabbing the baton. For this review here, we’re going to be taking a look at the DST produced The X-Files Vinimates figures.
Diamond Select Toys has released two versions of the Mulder and Scully Vinimates figures. The version we’re looking at here is the Classic look. There’s also one based on the 2016 mini-series.
As with other figures in the Vinimates line, both Mulder and Scully feature one point of articulation (at the neck). They stand in at 4 inches in height and are made of PVC plastic. This line is made to resemble DST’s iconic Minimates figure, albeit much larger and more statuesque.
Mulder, with his hands on his hips, and Scully, with her arms crossed, are fairly recognizable – even with the Vinimates’ fairly simplistic features. Similar to Funko’s Pop! line, they’re able to achieve with only a few details (remember, most Vinimates are lacking noses).
Pricing on The X-Files Vinimates is $9.99 each. I feel that’s the perfect price point for this line (given their size and quality). And while I was never a big fan of The X-Files* (I could probably count the number episodes I watched on one hand), I like that Diamond Select Toys is bringing more film licenses to the Vinimates format.
*I blame my reluctance for watching anything “alien-related” in the 90’s due to being thoroughly freaked out by the film Fire In The Sky.

David Withers aka Chaingun! has released his politically-themed designer art toy with a bootleg aesthetic and is obviously 100% unrelated to the Boglin brand or the Trump administration.
"Usually found hanging around the Whitehouse, in his giant golden tower or on a golf course this thin skinned Trumplin frequently alienates his fellow tribe members with his insane off the cuff statements.
He should be kept away from Twitter when possible".
The Mini Trumplin is cast in resin and packaged in a baggie with a hand painted topper card. The piece retails for £20.00 (about $26) plus postage and is available to buy via the above link. This figure will be made to order and are available in neon green, neon pink and silver.
Once upon a time, an R-rated campy B-movie horror gore-fest film made by Troma - The Toxic Avenger - spawned a children's animated cartoon series called the Toxic Crusaders. It was a little strange, given the amount of gore and sexual content in the original film license, to create a cartoon series based on an R-rated film (although, they did it with Rambo).
And since Super7 has already released figures based on the Toxic Avenger license, they've now announced the new Toxic Avenger - Toxic Crusader Variant. You can grab this 3.75-inch tall (the first superhero from New Jersey) from Super7 for $15.00. Each figures includes a mop accessory on a traditional blister card, featuring the animated Toxie on the front and a cut-out Toxie mask on the back.
Skellagor is a part of Ryan Taft aka Wolf Pits' Bruteleg Series of bootleg toys and customs. Made of solid resin, this 4.25-inch tall piece is painted with an air brush and by hand. With a limited number of pieces available, you can pick one up for $30.00 plus shipping.
Artist Kyle Kirwin is currently taking pre-orders for his Burning Bloom piece - a 5.5-inch tall hand-cast and hand-painted resin figure made by the artist (apparently in an RV like Walter White). These will be available for pre-order beginning in a week (August 25th 2017) and run until September 1st 2017. They will then ship out by October 15th 2017. The run will be limited to 50 pieces and they will run $50.00 each.
