From Taylored Curiosities, Penny used a 4″ DIY Kidrobot Munny and combined sewing, her original resin toys, sculpting and up-cycling with painting and needle felting to create this one of a kind creature. The Morrow is hand sculpted and cast in a minty green color and measures 2 cm.

The forest floor is needle felted with an artificial leaf adorned with a button, fixed in place. The Keepers face is hand sculpted and painted. The fungus is also hand sculpted and painted and finished off with moss. A hand sewn nest is the perfect resting place for the Morrow when it's not off collecting biscuits for the Keeper.

Packaging

The packaging is fairly simple. Every Topobot come packaged on a recycled cardboard backing, and the toy is held in place by clear plastic. All that means is that you can recycle the recycled packaging.

Our Opinion

I have a three-year-old son. Little boys of that age appear to be obsessed with a few specific things: cars, construction equipment, nature (bugs and animals), and robots. Not surprisingly, the moment I opened the package from Geared For Imagination, he wanted to bust open one of the Topobots.

Each figure is made up of four pieces. There are two body pieces and two legs. The body pieces work in conjunction with each other to give depth and changes in color (since each piece is painted one solid color) using the cut holes. Also, there are some pieces (Piratebot’s eye and Vampbot’s heart) where it appears a router – I’m sure they have something much more advanced – has been used to give you a view of the base wood.

As far as playing, it’s fun for kids to be able to put them together and take them about. That also makes it easy for storing them. My son did take advantage of me by constantly asking me to attach the Piratebot’s leg. I’m assuming that, if you wanted to, you could just glue the whole thing together.

As far as characters, I like 3 out of the 4 (sorry Rockbot). I’d probably rank them Vampbot, Herobot, Piratebot and then Rockbot. But kids should be able to relate with each one, as they’re all types of characters they see in cartoons every day.

For collectors, I know there are some folks out there who collect wooden toys. Remember The Good Wood Gang from Friends With You and StrangeCo? Blamo Toys has released several wooden toys. And a lot of Gary Ham and Scott Tolleson’s creations are made of (or started out as) wood. I’m sure there are plenty of others.

And less than $10.00 is the perfect price for a toy such as this.

Z7200 is a founding member of the ED-IT DJ partnership alongside B5100. Not often seen on stage or in the public eye, they operate behind the scenes and run the sister business of ACCEX, which develop and produce the machines that the crew use.

Onell Design has announced that The Buildstation will come back to life tonight (Friday, June 14th 2013) at 9:30PM ET.

Here's what Matt has to say about this evening's release:

This release will be a little different than usual, as the majority of the items popping up in the store have been ordered in high amounts, the highest since the original Founders many years ago. All the Clear Colorless (Stealth) figures and parts will appear in the resurrected Buildstation section on Friday night, and hopefully remain there for some time to come. This is an experiment, and hopefully it makes getting stuff for building easier on a regular basis.

There will be some special releases as well, with order limits in place like in the past.

The thing we're most excited to see finally return on Friday is Standard Pheyden! This will be the MK IV version, with a slightly brighter blue and lighter grey PVC. Of course you can't have Standard Pheyden without Reverse Pheyden (literally), so one of my personal old favorites is also back, now as a MK II edition. Both of these figures have been run in higher amounts and should stick around for a while.
