The full service Soft Serve Tour started off with a bang at Überbot this past Saturday night! This amazing show featured a massive live art installation by superstar artists Buff Monster, Came CrashingFreegums & . An excited crowd chose their favorite designs and watched the artists create live screen-printed shirts and prints for them right on the spot. Then it was off to the couch for a knock-down drag-out video game tournament of 'Rockstar Games Presents: Table Tennis'!! And finally, the evening ended with Buff Monster sketching and signing on everything but the cars in the parking lot. The traveling tour will hit cities across the U.S. and have it's final show in Los Angeles, California on September 10th!

Dr. Bao and Spive - the NVC crew - have submitted photos of their latest custom - The Bronze Migration. They used a tiny Zipperpull Munny, a mini smorkin labbit and a monger. The Munny is named Nakamura, a samurai, and the labbit and monger are "parade and transport" animals. The theme is that they are all going to war...with NVC even creating a scenery background.
James Jarvis will be exhibiting some of his preparatory drawings from “Vortigern’s Machine and the Great Sage of Wisdom” at Meltdown Comics.
The exhibition will last from July 28th until August 28th. James will be making a personal appearance on the opening night where, from 6pm, he will sign whatever is put in front of him (within reason).
Available for purchase: 8 pieces of original art; an edition of 10 hardcover "Vortigern’s Machine and the Great Sage of Wisdom" books with front and back inside flap covers drawn by Jarvis; limited edition of 20 Pink King Ken figures. James will also paint a mural at the gallery!

Why is it that whenever I hear of a show at the Billy Shire Fine Arts Gallery...the first thing that pops into my mind is Talia Shire (of Rocky and Godfather fame)? In any case...Glen Barr was exhibiting his work at the gallery, with an opening reception on July 15th. Our friend Robert, from Kung Fu Toys, sent in these great looking pictures of the exhibit. The show runs through August 19th, and his book signing has been postponed until July 18th. So if you're in Culver City, CA...check it out!
If you were in Seattle and didn't make it out to the Munny Show opening...well...then you missed out! No worries though. You can check out all of Schmancy Toys coverage at their flickr site. A bunch of very cool customs.
