Santa Claus: The Movie (1985)

If I told you that a Christmas movie starts out with Santa Claus, his wife, and two of his reindeer freezing to death in a blizzard...you'd likely think it was a horror flick. Nope. It's the 1985 "classic" Santa Claus: The Movie. Staring The Big Lebowski (David Huddleston) as Santa, John Lithgow as an evil toy tycoon, and Dudley Moore as - what else - an elf, the movie follows several tangential plots. These include Santa's relationship with a homeless lad who's forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. Also, there's the search for Dudley Moore, the elf who ran away after building some shoddy wood bicycles.

None of this really warrants the film's title. It sounds like either an epic tale of Santa Claus or one of those parody comedy films. Unfortunately, it's neither.

Our Rating: 2/10 Stars

Only watch for the blatant 1980's product placement.
