Mikie Graham has revealed exactly what he has been working on for San Diego Comic Con, a run of custom mini figures he is calling "This Is Your Brain".
This is Mikie's take on the 80's anti-drug scare ad "Your brain on drugs". Using Emilio Garcia's mini Jumping Brain figure, Mikie used clear resin and a little hand painted detail to make the vinyl figures resemble a sunny-side up egg. Oh and there's even a miniature cast iron frying pan.
Each egg comes compete with customized packaging - a black cardboard box with removable photo print mounted to its lid. Both the figure and the print come hand signed and numbered.
Mikie will have 10 pieces for sale at Dragatomi's booth #4935 starting on Preview night for only $45.00. (And if you can't get to SDCC, there's an off chance some might hit the interwebs in August)
This year, 3DRetro will be hustling at the Frank Kozik booth #4734 at San Diego Comic Con. In addition to lots of Frank Kozik merchandise , they'll be bringing along some special SDCC Exclusives.
David Chung's Shrympee: Ghost [Glow in the Dark] Edition will be limited to a run of only 100 pieces. Each figure will run $14.95. And David Chung will be available to sign at the booth on Saturday at 1:00PM.
For ages now, Shrympees have been regarded as a delicacy sent from the gods that only royalty had the privilege of eating. To be handled or consumed by those who were unworthy was considered a crime punishable by death.
Today, thousands of Shrympees have been plucked from the oceans and conveniently packaged so that YOU too can have a taste of its magnificent meat. Eat like a king and enjoy the taste of Shrympees in a variety of exciting flavors!! Ghost Shrympee will be available during SDCC 2012!! Get them now before they become extinct.
Paper Poseables has released the first of four new Poplock Super Combiner Series 2 bots. The ZP-R (zipper) has "giant, compound eyes and is very swooshable when you fold back the wings". This constructable paper fly features wings that can rotate to open and close and legs that can be posed. Oh...and the pattern is free to download.
Zephyrbaby has submitted work of his latest custom. This one is entitled "Chargrilled". And while it started life an a Mini Qee Samurai Pumpkin...now it's a chargrilled pepper. He also produced a painting to go along with the custom. They will be in Liverpool's Headspace Gallery show "Mixed Media" on August 17th 2012.
Now that Hot Toys has revealed The Joker 2.0, they've moved on to teasing us about the sixth-scale Batman Collectible Figure from the upcoming film - The Dark Knight Rises. So...I'm hoping that we will soon see Bane and Catwoman in Hot Toys' sixth-scale.
Gus Fink and Emi Boz have taken to Kickstarter to help raise funds to advance their company. They're looking to not only launch cool products like the Chubby Robot and Monster Bag (in the video), but they also have plans to produce more plush toys, apparel, merchandise, mini web series, music, apps, etc.
They've developed the prototypes and now just need the funds to get them produced. Of course, in Kickstarter style, they're offering lots of rewards at the various funding levels - from stickers to artwork to plush toys to dinner and art lesson.
They're looking to raise $45,000 by Wednesday Aug 8th 2012 at 7:39PM ET.
