REVIEW: Easter Cavey
Hey Cavey is the plush line designed by Holly Stanway (A Little Stranger). The character was inspired by Holly's three pet guinea pigs - The Punisher, Lord Violence and The Lizardman. The Cavey name is a play on the scientific name of the guinea pig - Cavia porcellus.
Each Cavey is lovingly handmade in the UK and come in many breeds, each with their own unique personalities. Caveys love humans, but they’re very shy, so they disguise themselves as everyday objects so they can observe us. If you find one be sure to say “Hey Cavey!” because they just want to be friends!
Beginning on Monday April 11th 2011 at 10AM London Time (5AM EST), the newest Cavey – the Easter Cavey – will go on sale.
Series: Hey Cavey
Manufacturer: A Little Stranger
Artist: Holly Stanway

The Cavey comes delivered in a special cloth drawstring bag. It has the Cavey logo and illustration silkscreened on the front. The tag also features the Cavey logo. And there's an additional tag that's been hand numbered out of 100 pieces. Unfortunately...I forgot to take a photo of that one (we got 98/100).
This is the first Cavey that I've held in hand. The Easter Cavey differs slightly from those previously released – mainly the long bunny ears. Apparently, Cavey has decided to dress up in his favorite bunny suit. That suit is a dark brown with plenty of colorful polka dots.
The stitching is really well-done, especially when you consider that they're being handmade by Holly. And I'm sure producing 100 Caveys isn't easy. The Easter Cavey is stuffed rather generously. It's not too soft, but not rock solid either.
The little piece of felt that makes the Easter Cavey's mask is only being held on by the eyes, so be careful not to catch it on anything. And collectors who like to display their plush will be happy to know that there are beans in the base of the Cavey.
OVERALL: If the Easter Cavey is like the other limited edition runs, you'll want to act fast on picking one up. It's a fun design, combining the traditional Cavey with some polka dots and bunny ears. It would be perfect to include in that special someone's Easter basket. Or you could just keep it for yourself.
