Background

Tonner Doll Company, which has the license for Walt Disney Pictures Alice in Wonderland, has released and/or revealed several Tonner Character Figures based on the main characters from the film. One of those characters, who has found her way into collectible form, is Mirana – The White Queen.

In Tim Burton's 2010 adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, Anne Hathaway portrays Mirana. She's opposite the evil Red Queen, her sister, who has banished her from Underland. The White Queen awaits the arrival champion who will slay the Red Queen's pet – the Jabberwocky. That champion, of course, is Alice.

Packaging

The White Queen is packaged in Tonner's Alice in Wonderland branded box. Since the figure features such a large dress, it is packaged in one of the wider boxes – similar to the Red Queen. Inside, she is packaged extra carefully to make sure the dress is not damaged. Ribbons with foam, plastic and a hairnet protect the doll from the elements.

Our Opinion

Tonner has made good use of actress Anne Hathaway's mug. This isn't the first time we've seen her dolled up as a Tonner Character Figure. In addition to The White Queen, she was a part of The Princess Diaries and Get Smart film licenses.

But it's not like Tonner has reused the same face sculpt over and over – at least I don't believe so. The sculpts have progressed in really nailing down the actress's look. Anne Hathaway does have a distinct look to her – especially dressed up as Mirana. And Tonner has always been very strong with sculpting likenesses of female actors.

Of course, the first thing you notice about The White Queen is that she's...well...really white. Her skin, hair, dress, boots...all white. It's accentuated with black fingernails, dark eyebrows and dark red lipstick. But if you're looking for a wide assortment of colors, check out Tonner's Mad Hatter figure.

There's not much paintwork going on. The lip shade appears to be a little darker on the figure. And many of the movie still showed Hathaway's onscreen White Queen with pink bags under her eyes.

Price-wise, I think $189.99 is a fair price for this piece. The dress is extremely well-made, and that's what really bumps it up from being a $150 piece.

OVERALL: I think Tonner has done a great job with Mirana - The White Queen. The sculpting accuracy is one of the best from The Alice in Wonderland line. And while the character isn't one of the most visually stimulating, you can't fault Tonner for that.
