REVIEW: Uglydoll – Ket
Even though Sun-Min + David's Ket character was released in Uglydoll plush form back in 2009 (as a pink Kitson exclusive), collectors have had to patiently bide their time – until rather recently – to get their hands on the regular version of Ket.
Look, OK, so let’s just say Ket is smart in other ways. For example, while most of us put “4” as our answer when faced with “2+2” on a math test, Ket draws little UFOs in the answer column. I mean, who are we to argue with that? Are there UFOs? Ket’s reply is always:“Do the math!” How do you know for sure that Ket is no dummy? Just look at his choice in friends! Yes, you. Ket would like to hang out with you and talk about whatever is on your mind, as long as that means UFOs. Or chocolate.

Ket uses the traditional green Uglydoll tag. There's an illustrated version of Ket on the outer and inner (right) panel. Also located inside (left), you can find the above re-printed bio.
I've been attempting to create a formula for how one chooses their favorite Uglydoll. I think I'm close to having it solved: 30% body color; 20% body design; 20% ear design; 10% eye color; 10% arm design; 5% teeth design; 5% feet design. Now, if you could go all Weird Science and cut out bits and pieces of various Uglys to form the ultimate Uglydoll...I might have to go with Ket's ears.
I can see youngsters all over the world abusing their Ket Uglydolls by dragging them around the house by those big old ears. You have a wimpy pillow for a pillow fight? I'd use Ket. Although, at 32...I'm not getting into many pillow fights.
Ket has already been released in three different versions – this regular edition and two Kitson Exclusives (Pink and Navy Blue). The regular Ket is a lighter blue with yellow eyes, a black nose and a pink tongue. What I like is that he actually looks a little more like an Ugly dog than Uglydog does.
Overall: You have to love Ket's floppy ears. While I'm traditionally a “classic” Uglydoll fan...I'd probably recommend going a little larger and picking up the 2-foot tall version of Ket. The character design really lends itself to that larger size.
